It is true that GTAm engines were used in Alfetta GT's for rallying with carbs instead of the SPICA or Lucas fuel injection until "La Bomba" Alfetta came with the Montreal V8 engine.
Some pictures of the 1750 TIPO 105.51 GTAm that is in Greek ownership ....

I don't quite understand why the big fascination with the 1750 and 2 liter GTAms when you can buy a 1600 GTA with good racing history for less than half the money. Same with the GTAm-SAs...and the SAs weren't all that successful...
Please explain...

It is the specification game. The GTAm's and SA's are the ultimate specs to excite us nutters.
Bit like how we all go weak at the knees over the BRM 1.5 ltr v16 ....

Stu you are right about finding a 1600 GTA at half the money.
On the other hand there is a certain mystery regarding the GTAm , about 40 were ever made according to the books , mechanically and engine wise it seems more exotic to me and it is what I want a personal choice , no alfisti can explain why they want a certain Alfa it all comes from the heart otherwise I would go out and buy a Peugeot 106 Rallye and turn it into a racing machine with the 10th of the price.

Why a GTAm? I can think of 220 reasons! Besides the huge hp gain, imagine those gorgeous flares, 13x9" wheels, wildly exotic narrow angle head, and the sliding throttle fuel injection apparatus. This car would kick serious booty, and like all Alfas, a joy to drive on the track. Well, where else would you drive it? They are very historically significant as well.

Thank you Teo I have also seen this site and the GT Am that was for sale , I think it was sold to someone in Japan if I remember correctly for $92500.
I wonder which is faster the GT Am in the front or the GTA 1300 Junior that follows ............
