Regarding stickers:
1. Goto
www.brandsoftheworld.com
2. Search for the namebrand you want using the "logo" feature.
3. Identify the one you want and write it down. (ie Castrol #7)
4. Take it to your local graphics shop and give them the information.
5. The images you have identified are already digitized in a "vector" format that the graphics people need.
6 They can download the image, and print it directly onto your choice of vinyl.
The more images you arrange on each sheet, the less they cost. A sheet will be $10-20, if you get 8 images on that sheet...well, then they're pretty cheap.
According to the people I have spoken with, the issue of copyright infringement is moot, as few of these sponsors even produce the stickers anymore. There are two options for Marchal...the cat and the checkered flag is nice.
I did get STP and Castrol to send me a couple stickers about 4" wide.
And you can find a lot them on ebay. But a good graphics shop should be able to reproduce any of these period images, if they're vectored.
And, you may find some orignal period stickers for sale only on ebay, that are no longer available electronically. You can buy one sticker, have it scanned and then reproduced.
I have been searching for a large vectored image of the the Alfa Serpent as shown in the old Milano style badge. Since I haven't found one yet, it will cost me about $150 to have one digitally mastered to a scale of about 24" x 18" or so. I intend to use this older image because it is just so much cooler than the newer minimalist style serpent which can be had for about $40.
If anyone knows about a really large format Milano snake, I'd like to find it.
I did find some vintage stickers on ebay that did not show up in the vectored list.
PS. I'm sure glad to see someone else is having fun with their car colors and stuff. I'm doing a similar thing, but not specifically typing a particular historic car.
