GTAm rims - recommendation

Can someone give me recommendations on rims for my GTAm replika? I am looking for 13" X 9" ones (budget for now), I have understood that this dimentions are optimal (??), but it seems impossible to get hold of any here. I have tried the Alfa forums in Norway and Sweeden, the Ford Escort (Revolution) pack, but without much luck yet

One of my garage-buddies just baught a GTAm-replika with great race pedigree and really fast laptimes on the norwegian tracks. The car has 15"X8" rims which seems to be the right choise on that car (I guess it is easier to get hold of tires as well with 14 or 15" rims?).

Additional information: My car will be built as a FIA app. K car.

Any suggestions?

Regards
Stian Schjelderup, Oslo

Stian,

Try contacting Richard Norris at Classic Alfa, in London UK - or maybe Hein Brand in Germany or AutoParco in Japan. I think they all sell those golden 13" rims.

Alex.

GTAm wheels

Stian-
If you are looking for the replicas of the original, Classic Alfa in UK has them in 13x8 and 13x9 in gold or silver
http://www.classicalfa.com/shop/category80_1.htm

Be forewarned that finding the right size tires for them is difficult. I went with a vintage tire (Dunlop M series) for mine. There are tires availabe in 13" but you will find it is difficult to find the "right" overall diameter. Most of the modern tires have too low of a profile and the overall diameter on 13" wheels is 22-23"
You will have many more (modern) tire options with a 15x7 or 15x8.

20 years ago I had a set of the BWA Sportstar style wheels in the 13" x 8" size on GTA clone, you might be able to find a set on ebay.

here's a gta? with these wheels,

@ 10lbs, they are porbably lighter than the origianl gtam magnesium campy and the aluminium replica'a made by compomotive.

use them on my gtv to drop the gearing for autocross and lower the car without sending the roll center to middle earth...

Hi ADee,
It's good to hear about the A-R movements from our neighboring countries.
Since I bought my first series 1 1750 GTV in 1988 with the incorrect 13'x6' and 110mm PCD wheels, I have made a lot of exeperimenting with A-R 105 series wheels (now I have 5 of these cars).
The available choices amongst other are are as follows:
Steel wheels:
Standard Peugeot 306 (14 x 5.5) almost identical to the original one with less offset (see attached picture)
Standard Peugeot 406 (15 x 6) looks like the Giulia Sprint wheels
Alloy wheels:
Try the one that fits 4 x 108mm PCD, either from Peugeot, Citroen, European Fords (not Mazda based).
My favourite is the locally available Minilite lookalike from Enkei Compe 8, and once I have compiled all the pictures of the wheels we have in our club I may send you a copy
Happy hunting.

Performance Wheels in Australia do a 13 x 8 Superlite (minilite style) with small offset (ie lots of dish) that would suit a wide-arched GTAm replica. Also, escort wheels (ie those for Mk1 and Mk2 with wide guards) could also be suitable and there are heaps of suppliers of those round the world.

Speaking of wheels for a GTAm... is there a way that a custome wheel shop could take a GTA wheel and modify it by relocating the wheel center whithin the rim or... widen the rim??? This way you could have a sweet looking set of GTA wheels that have a correct offset for a wide body car, are big enough for for a better tire selection and modern brake clerance, but without having to go to the big meats that a 9" or 10" rim requires.

Just an idea

I think if you were to use the Alfaholics 15x7 wheel with a 225/55 or similar tire you'd be in the right ballpark.

Yeah... it's just that most of the wide body replicas you see have wheels that are tucked way in and under the car... the wide body isn't actually being utilized. The 13 inch wheels... although I understand the reason they were being used... makes the car look like it's sitting on rollerskate wheels. Plus... what a pain for tires and brake set-up. I think the stance of a wide body car would look awesome with the correct size and offset... a 14" wheel that was not altra wide (205 or 225) that use an aspect ratio that filled the fender shape, and the outer edge of the tires were flush with or just inside of the body-work.?.?
