I second OK Parts in Germany. Christian over there runs a top notch operation.

True, but we have found that the door buttons will not fit directly without mods.. the barrels are too long. I know productions change all the time, but the last 2 sets we got were like this, hence why we are doing our won now using original Alfa GTA parts we found.

I sent an Email to both Alfaholics and OK parts. I think I should say I never object to paying a premium for a quality product but, for something that looks like a glove box button and a kitchen handle! I should also say that R&D for good reproductions, cost to produce and that is understandable. As always, thanks Anthony for the insight

Max,

Do you know the length of the incorrect ones? I have a new set that are going on my GT Jr. some day. Is there a way to get them to work by shaving them down?

Mr. Akita...
I just remember Dirk and Omar at Italspeed might have some as well. Try them out www.italspeed.com or 323-733-4099.

Of course one way to get a cheap set of buttons would be to find a GTZ in a junkyard !!!

Are you going the whole hog and getting the fibre glass doors too with the oh so cool lightened window frames, etc.

The original steel doors I reckon must be close to half the cars weight ...

Anthony,

I haven't got the wrong length to hand, but I'm looking at 1 of our brass casting here we have had done (copied from an original out of Richard's 1600 GTA door) and the correct length is a mere 22mm from the base of the collar to the end of the thread. We are making a batch of 22 buttons using original lock button mechanisms sourced from Giulia Ti door handles. Just about to go to the chromium plater! They won't be cheap as using original parts, but they will be perfect! Most have already been bought prior to finishing by some of our big clients on trust of our quality alone! Not too much pressure then!

Attached is a photo of the button bodies fresh back from the machinist - they have since been polished and are ready for chrome-ing

Yeah just had a look at that. Nice work.

Would you be able to use the 'green primer' with Dulon?, and if so could you please tell me exactly what I should ask for when I go to my paint shop, and the 'fill' primer please. I'm sure they will set me in the right direction but I, er, trust you more .

Pete

The green primer is a dupont product. It's called DTM (stands for direct to metal) and it's very versatile. The paint product number is 2580CR. As far as dulon goes, I don't know. The paint people state very strongly that cross brading is a no-no. But I do it from time to time. For example I use Spies Hecker Polyeaster with dupont all the time. Never had an issue.

Pinshaw,

We stock the hoop handles all the time as our own production. Cast in aluminium by the same guy who cast the button bodies - his work is stunning, he is the best scale model maker in the UK and used by all the major motor manufacturers - he also happens to be a very close friend, mad Alfisti and life long client of ours... which always helps!
