Is this a GTA ignition cap?

If you know, please tell me if this is a GTA cap, or some other M&M relic:

Thanks!
Mike

No part number, hence the little mystery. No box or bag either (drat!). I'm really sure someone will recognize it here though!

My first thought is that it's a Montreal cap because of what appears to be a number '8' by one of the towers. Don't know if the GTA and Monty caps are the same but I'll check the parts books when I get home tonight.

Here's a pick of the inside - the pins are on two planes, and there is a center electrode plus a brass ring for the second tap. I can get dimensions this evening if needed.

Although the pics in the parts books look the same, the GTA and Monty caps have different part numbers. Can possibly take a pic of a Monty cap this weekend if need be.

ign cap

It's a Montreal cap. It's possible to use it for twin ignition if used in conjunction with specific rotor.

It's sounding like this is a Monty cap, which makes sense since my dad used to own a Montreal, and used to take care of three of them here in Dallas.

Pics of my GTA Distributor cap and rotor. Looks like it is the same as those that mike posted so I say it is a GTA cap. Seams to me without seing a Montreal cap that the Montreal cap would only have and nead one hi tension lead input from a coil. The pic of the rotor showes the 2 electroded at different elevations, even though a bit blurred.

Regards

Ken

Ps: Mike is it for sale?

Unlike, say, a typical American V8 of the time that used one set of points and one coil, the Montreal ignition system is actually two separate systems firing four cylinders each but with one dual plane distributor cap and one dual plane rotor. One set of points triggers a CD ignition to fire a coil for cylinders 1, 4, 6 & 7 (I think). The second set of points triggers a second CD ignition to fire a second coil for cylinders 2, 3, 5 & 8.
I'll try to post parts book pics of the GTA and Monty caps this evening.
