Have a look at Pag.4, Foto P-Collettore d'aspirazone. Whats wrong with this picture?? A scrutineers nightmare. Besides the fact that it is a mirror immage does the end opposite from the thermostat appear on all GTAs or just early ones? Later I think trhe casting and drillings differed. Comments and enlightenment please.

It's made of brass, screws into the rear end of the water rail, and serves mainly as an air/coolant bleed. Mine suffers from a constant weep, probably from years of corrosion and retightening, so I'm having a new one made up from solid. Shouldn't be that difficult. I haven't seen them on post-67 cars although someone may correct me on this.

david -

for some reason gasonline spills out of the carb throat and into the intake box and down the side of the engine on startup. ive replaced ball valves but not the floats. and to top it off it happens randomly . so i got paranoid of it happening some place with a hot engine and poof up in smoke. so the car sat for a while, then a little while longer, then a little longer and before i knew it a couple of years have passed by. kind of like my kids - i think ive just turned around and my oldest is a senior in high school. anyway i want someone to go over it throughly before starting it up and then troubleshoot the gasoline problem. romans too far away. one of these days i'll pull some cash together and send it off to someone. jack beck did the suspension work on my car and hes closer than michigan.

so if you used to work at alfa, what do you do now? retired? ive been to watkins glen once and thought it was a great track. in fact roman sent me some in car video years ago when he ran the midgley car there. good luck there.

I will ask around ref your gas leak. Are the float levels too high ? I had to install a gas line pressure regulator, since the one on the fuel bowl no longer worked. Bingo, all carb problems solved. I set the regulator at 3.5 lbs. I used a Purolator, found at most Auto Supply stores.

After ARI, I had my own Autobody repair business, specializing in MB-BMW-Ferrari, located in beautiful downtown Manhattan. In Greenwich Village actually. Now I'm retired, divorced and still involved with cars.

Ref coolant channel. On my car, 613900, the end is brass as Alex states. But I have the air bleed as an angled casting protrusion with the typical, hollow stem, brass fitting as seen on most Alfas ?

gas line pressure regulator...? that sounds like it might work. i checked the float levels and they were ok. would the pumps suddenly start putting out too much pressure? i wonder...

My car has the twin Bendix pumps. The engine sputtered during acceleration, as though it had to clear itself before running nicely. The needle valve and the floats were OK. We checked the fuel pressure and its was very high, over 5lbs, I dont remember exactly. I found the Purolator pressure regulator in a regular auto supply store, it was cheap. I installed it at 3.5 lbs and "voila" no more carb problems. Didnt even have to reset the carbs. On the track I follow the CAS and use 150 mains and 150 air correction jets. I have a street setup that is 140 mains and 200 air correction. The venturis are 36 or 38, every setting follows the CAS.

I would try the fuel pressure reg first.
