I think the 'air' (vent) side of the catch tank goes to the carbs.

For an oil catch tank the following plumbing is the ideal;

1. Breather from the engine, this is usually taken out of the cam cover/filler cap.
2. Return of 'foul air' this usually is plumbed into the intake side of the engine, as mentioned in can be plumbed into the intake manifold to take advantage of the inherent depression to aid flow.
3. Drain of seperated oil from the catch tank back to the engine (sump)

Most of my experience has been on very high performance engines running seperate oil tanks and full scavenge systems but the principles remain the same. Frequently on road cars the catch is a simple tank without any return line for the dumped oil. Internal design of the catch is also important as you need to condense/seperate out the oil from the air efficiently with pipe and baffle design. Ideally you would vent the air from the catch tank to atmosphere rather than contaminate the intake charge but in this day and age this is not really on!
