Growing up, I had the privilege to be surrounded by these cars and many others. Healy 100's, Porsche 356's, a whole ton of VW's an MG here and there and a few other types. I have also studied the markets of all of these vehicles as well. The early Austin Healy's are much more desirable than lets say the Healy 3000. The Porsche A coupe is more desirable than the "B" or "C" coupes.

What i'm trying to get at is...

Are the SWB 750 Giulietta's going to be more desirable than the LWB 101 cars? We all know that the 101 is a better driving car out of the box. But that also goes for the Healy's and Porsche's, yet, the older cars are considered more "purist" and cost a pretty good chunk of change more.

Is this a topic worth bringing up?

Just a few thoughts, a good conversation starter...

I have had 5 Alfas, but never one of these. Now, a friend is looking at one and is asking what he should ask the seller.
I did a search, but could not find anything totally on point.
Any advice?

Hello all Alfisti. I have found what is a rough, and I mean rough (1 or 1.5 out of 100) Alfa Romeo. I am interested in buying it, even if it takes me 10 years to restore it, as I love the lines, and the Alfa heritage. I have joined here looking for knowledge and advice on the vehicle, and hopefully some research answers.

The vehicle is an 1965 Alfa Romeo Model 101 Giulia Spider 1600 Veloce.

It seems that this is the last year of production, as well as the most rare of the versions which were available. Is this correct?

Any help and information, directions or links; will be highly appreciated.

I've been trying to get my hands on this car since I got my GTV back in 2006. The guy with it is now willing to talk prices, so I'd like to hear your thoughts on what its value would be.

Its a '59 Normale, been sitting for ever. The front end has been smacked, all the grills are missing as well as the headlights. The engine is a Veloce, but missing the head, and everything else is likely frozen in place. The paint is totally gone. I doubt there is anything to salvage paint wise. Aside from the front end, the rest of the car looks pretty straight and I haven't found any serious rust, but I haven't been able to look into the trunk. (Its stuck closed, looks like the gasket melted and glued the whole thing together.)

I've seen cars pop up on ebay needing less work than this with all the parts for $4-8K I don't think this is worth anywhere near $4k, more like $2k tops, but I might be off on this. I don't want to low ball the guy, but I don't have the $ to offer a premium for the car either. I know the front end is going to take a lot of work perhaps even need to be replaced, but there is a chance the steel is still solid enough to bring back. Its hard to say at this point.

Let me know what you guys think. Honestly I think I'd drop a 1750 in it for an engine as I do plan to drive it if I can get my hands on it.

Thanks,
Will

To all,
I am looking for the part of the ventilating system that is at the firewall end of the left hand side of a `56 Giulietta spider air intake hose. The parts book refers to it as a "Union with throttle for air control on dash panel". It is further described by, P/N 1493.10.724 illustration number 2, page 112 of the body parts catalog

Thanks,

I am looking for the part of the ventilating system that is at the firewall end of the left hand side of a `56 Giulietta spider air intake hose. The parts book refers to it as a "Union with throttle for air control on dash panel". It is further described by, P/N 1493.10.724 illustration number 2, page 112 of the body parts catalog

Thanks,

New Fuel Tank

It seems that no one is making new steel fuel tanks for 750-101 spiders. There are some Stainless Steel and Aluminium tanks in the UK but with exchange rates and shipping we're talking cost prohibitive for those of us in the US. So I have some questions.
1. Does anyone know of availability of new 750-101 tanks in the US?
2. The UK supplier says tanks for 750 and 101 spiders are the same. True?
3. If I were to get a batch of tanks made - high standard correct baffles etc. is there any interest?
4. If made - what material? OEM Coated steel?, Stainless Steel, Aluminium?

By the way the reason I'm looking for a new tank is that our newly formulated gasoline has ate away the liner material from my tank that was professionally restored about 7 years ago.
Not sure if it's ethenol or some other additive but I'm ready to start clean with a new tank.

It seems like VIN#(s) overlap for these cars:

so I was wondering if there's any real definitive way to identify a real Giulietta Spider Veloce.
I tried to search for this topic, but did not find anything which specifically addresses this question...
