Here are some more old pictures of the ital motors racing team , edmonton alberta, car 44 (red ) is my fathers gt junior (1750) street stock class (full mechanical mods ,sliding block, colotti gear box ,etc..etc.. but no slicks or flares ) the picture is at edmonton int. speedway turn 6 1981 ,the car still exists an races today but has changed class and has flared fenders "gtam" stile...sort of .....
the red and white 2000 gtv is Mario del peros first team car , it was in gt 2 class (mario is an old school alfa mechanic , started his carrer young in italy in the early days as an apprentice he tells me he had even worked on rebuilding the engines of some freccia d'oro 2500s etc.... in edmonton he was able to have the alfa dealership from late 60s till alfa left america. i still have a 1750 engine in one of m berlinas he made for my dad and it is a beautiful engine with great torque and drivabilty) this car was driven by ken stapels for many seasons for the ital team .
The white gtv also #79 is freds tube frame alfa , he had it built in the early 90s , it was built in wichita kanasas by the establishment that used to build the paul newman nissans (cannot recall the name ), i remeber drivng with fred (i was 19 ) from edmonton to wichita in his van and trailer to pick up the car when it was finished , it is very similar to dave crescentinos tube frame car but not identical , again mario freds dad decided to innovate and experiment for more power and modified and ran a twin spark 2.0 in this car with special intake and exhaust manifolds for back then (1990) it was not common at all to run a carburatted twin spark engine in a gtv racer .the car is sitll in excellent condition and fred often takes it out for a couple of races in edmonton ,also he raced it a few times at vancouver at the indy car event etc........ i recall it has huge american vented brakes , sway bar adjustmens from cockpit , special differential which allows for quick change of ratios , and many other goodies .
I hope you enjoy the pics sorry again for the poor quality the are all framed and old and some have glued to the glass . alas it seems like yesterday but it's been 30 years.............
cheers to all .
Car to report, almost done now. (this vinter)
You can call it an illusion because its not a 105 car and its not a 116 car.
Its a morph of both with the looks of the coolest car ever.
It will look as the "stepfront" giulia coupe "GTA" and have modified parts from a 75 TS. (transaxle)
I have coilovers in front and rear and newly built front suspension.
Shortend 75ts chassi with fiberglass body.
Its nearly done now and i just cornerweighted it on a horizontal surface and got 746 kg tot with 6 kg:s more in the back.
All fluids in the car with about 20 liters of gas.
A guess it will stop att around 745 complete.
Hope my English works for you.
The engine is standard (good conditioned) with tuned chip and, exhaust, airfilter.

I will post some pictures for you.

Ok here goes another .........this is a "rare "photo of another special gta Franco angelinis group 5 gta at monza inteuropa cup back in april 1977 . this picture has been in my dads office since i was a little boy , this picture was subject of
un-numerable child --night--gta "fantasies" of mine ......and when we used to go to Francos shop it was often there sitting on a hoist , ....wide , .....LOW , ....batwing, ....spoiler , .....10 inch rear speedline 3 piece wheels , etc, etc, etc, for a seven year old kid who loved alfas in the seventies it was god on 4 wheels.
back then he ran it with his 16 valve head and claimed a 300 hp. output.i saw it run many times at vallleunga track in rome .
I saw the car last in the mid nineties at his shop , next to is other 2 or 3 gtas , by then it had "evolved" it was the "nineties" ........and ran a less than 1300 cc. 500 hp turbo alfa-angelini powerplant! please someone correct me if they ever saw in person ; it but i recall clearly in my mind franco saing it was little over 1000 c.c. . never heard it run with that engine , but definitely looked impressive to say the least .
I do not know what serial number the car has nor do I know if Adrienses logged in his book. I have never seen a picture of this machine in recent publications other than an issue of elaborare magazine in itlay where there was a feature article on Franco Angelini . i do recall that fred del pero in edmonton had some old autosprint magazines from the seventies where there was another service on the angelini gr 5 gta but have never seen the article again nor do i know what issue it was.............
Hope you like the picture .
Ciao a tutti

Hello as i mentioned in my first post ( new member and gta owner ) here are a few old photos of the ex angelini gta 613 110 ( raced with a 1300 gta engine ) by Fred del pero of ital motors in edmonton . sorry for the poor quality of the photos but its all i could do the pictures got stuck to the glass with time. the one with the three alfas is older , edmonton int. speedway 1981 , you can see freds gta still in italian livery with the #208 numbers it arrived with from italy (later #80). in the back ground is may dad Giorgio Pirotta scotti ,with his street stock class gt junior #44 (1750 angelini eng. ) today still run and owned by Gary cooper in edmonton and still part of the ital motors team and further back is ken staples 3rd driver of the team and quite known in the prarie region as a good racer his ride was old #79 a 2000 gtv gt2 class very successful car also still exiting part of the team , actually old 79 started it's racing life very early in the early 70s in edmonton it was their first car it was origianlly a 1750 gtv verde pino (green ) with orange front it was raced by gino (italian pilot can't recall his last name) and destroyed at some point in an accident the mechanics went on to give life to the #79 car raced by ken at the back of the picture .
the other pictures are about ten years later at race city calgary alberta,"maestro" Mario del pero freds dad and head of ital motors and the team at the rear wheel torquing the lugs . freds gta looks very tired from a long but very winnig carrer , mechanically still performing though as strong as ever. fred won something like 6 canadian gt3 championships with the car starting at sixteen years of age , and also always first in class at kelowna hill climb . any how , i thought you might like to see some old pictures of a gta that has a lot of history in both in europe and the american continent . today it is still raced sporadically..... and is basically in the same shape as the 90s picture . We have often talked with fred about a restoration of old gta # 80 , alas i now live in italy and mexico no longer in canada and see him seldomly and briefly and we have never been able to start such project ...........i think the best thing would be to ship it back to italy , maybe to to rome where i have an very good artesan friend (his dad was one of the main tin men at boano ) who under special petition has already REBUILT (not cloned ) 3 gtas to incredible attention to detail ......i hope 613 110 one day recovers it's rightful glory..........FRED are you listening..............!!!!!!
thanks .

Hi
I'm in the process of replacing the rear springs and shocks on my 72 GT 1600 Jr. About six years ago I bought a set of old new stock springs from a guy who informed me that these springs will fit all 105/115 cars. Last night I had a better look at them and based on previous discussions on the BB, they look a little shorter than the original springs. They are gold in colour and are 35 cm long and 11 cm across. The springs have 12 turns made of 1.4 cm wire with 1.9 cm space between the turns. The only number stamped on the springs is " 8 85".

Can anyone tell me if these might be sport springs because as I said, they don't look like an OEM spring.

Thanks

Hello to all , i would like to introduce myself , my name is Giovanni Battista Pirotta Scotti ,(call me giamba ) I have been following your interesting forum for quite some time, but had never registered , I Own a 1966 gta stradale in complete original conditions among 6 other alfas . I would like to be part of the gta "community" among your forum .,
i'll be brief with the intro.....
I'am 39 , born in Rome Italy , I've Lived my life between Italy, canada (alberta and b.c) for several years as well as in usa (Scottsdale az.) and Mexico (baja california) My father being addicted to travel and new places brought us to all these places.
Dad (82 today ) Has always and only had alfas, in italy in the 50s he raced with alfa with several 1900 ti and ti supers as part of the "clienti sportivi" group that alfa had oraganized and i have some pictures from those events, in the early 70s he became good firends with franco angelini in rome and his pilots francisci, giunti, luigi rampa etc..
and had him modify several street giulias for him with full gta running gear , one of which we still own today, a 1968 170 hp 1750 berlina bored to 1.9 l gta head sump c.r gear box etcetc , anyhow back to the intro .... in the 80s in canada we became friends ,clients and part of the ital motors racing team in edmonton alberta , where mr mario del pero "maestro Mario" had a 2000 gtv gt2 class going strong in the prairie region champinoship,my dad decided to partake in the action and had mario prepare a car for him , it was a gt junior body but 1750 running gear, shortly his son Fred del pero became of age and at 16 started to race, on one of our yearly trips to italy mario commisioned my dad to find them a gta for fred , so we went to visit franco and lo and behold there was a gta 1300 junior for sale ex hill climb car , the deal was struck (if i recall around 3 milllion lira ) and it was shipped to canada, meanwhile franco was preparing the engine for my dads car along with a colotti gearbox and all the necessary addendums ....
well i don't want to make things too long , any how my dad raced the 80- 83 seasons with several wins and 2 nd in class in 82, fred on the other hand went on to be canadian champion for 6 years in a row in the gta junior before mentioned. ( that gta actually turned out to be a gta 1600 s.n 613 110 with 1300 engine ). Fred still races the car he is known for his knox hill mountain climbs in kelowna b.c. my dad sold his car back to them and it also still runs as part of a 3 car team.
ok
My gta
it is a 2 owner car, previous owner in Latina province close to rome and then my dad ( now registered in my name )
It is red ,never been raced, the original owner was an angelini client in rome ,the car had always been serviced there and in 73 it came up for sale , it sat at francos garage for some time and he was about to buy it for himself and modify it for racing, my dad happened there and convinced him not to modify it but to sell it to him and so it was..........
it is 100 % original ,upholstery , mechanics , etc has approx 60 000 km , the body was resprayed in 1990 in italy because the original paint had some blemishes and a few small dings from rome parking areas. other than that it is fully original , the car is mentioned in alleggerita , it is registered at the riar in italy. serial n is 613 ...mid sixhundreds At a certain point in time we brought it to canada , then to the states and also stored it in baja for a few years but now it's back in Italy where i like to use it when i go there.
As im mentioned before we also have the 1750 berlina with full gta mechanics gta engine with sump ( no bell housing ) gta flat face differential and autodelta close ratio gear box , car is very fun to drive , very fast and has a definite gta feel as you power through the gears . car is also in italy .
my other alfas are
1900 ti super
1750 berlina 71
giulia super 1300 73
giulia nuova super 1600 77
alfetta 2000 79
well that's all for now , I hope to be an active part of the forum from now on
my best regards to you all .
Giamba
