It is 4 months to late on delivery, I missed this summer and the Cent'anni in Italy and Sweden. I have been driven a 164 v6 instead.

I'm excited and tomorrow it is time for MOT and registration so I can start driving :D

LA sighting http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/picture-room/170342-new-giuliettas-amongst-us-la-sighting.html Sat, 04 Sep 2010 22:31:04 GMT so last week as i was sitting @ the red light of olympic & highland near my house, i look up & see a car go by which has no slot in my brain for previously seen cars. as i look closer, it is none other than a new giulietta driving by. so after a painfully long red light, i take off after it. ok, no where in sight. down olympic, another red light. full throttle, how far could he be? is that him? or is that a prius? (yes, i actually couldn't tell from a distance if it was the giulietta or a prius!) i think that was him turning. after him. ok, there he is. left on wilshire way up ahead but will the light stay green for me? full throttle & hard braking for a sliding turn onto wilshire (scirocco has some mean handling skills thanks to 400# coilovers & falken 615's). ok, there he is. pull up next to him. his window's down.
me: "hey, do you work for alfa?"
him: "uh, i can't disclose that. you know what this is?" --sounding surprised that anyone knows what an alfa is.
me: "hell fu&*ing yeah! i've got 2 alfas at home."
him: "we also have the smaller one."
me: "smaller one? which one?"
him: "the other car ."
me: "fiat?"
him: Yeah."

it looked nice in person but all the pics i've seen in magazines are in bright colors and in this simple grey it looked a little uninspiring, kinda like a prius that the designers actually gave some thought to the details. although the front is where the majority of its character is and i didn't get much of a view of the front. hate the wheels too--come on alfa, give us the phonedials! also, car was VERY quiet. too quiet. i mean it's an alfa so lets hear it. he was driving like a dumb slow american but when he saw my camera he tried to get away and i did hear some growl, but still quite muted for an alfa. granted this was not the GTA & just the base version i assume. sounded like a bigger engine than the 1.4 four i think they come with. almost sounded VW VR6 like but don't hold me to that as i had very limited listening time. definitely had some growl when opened up but needs more volume.

anyways, enjoy and imagine how very soon our roads will be covered with new quiet alfas!

I fell in love with the Spider 20+ years ago when a friend of mine got an S2 for his 16th birthday. I've wanted one ever since.

Won an auction tonight (purchase contingent on inspection) on a 1984 Spider. I'm heading up to VA this weekend. Once the inspection is complete I'm driving 800 miles south through the Appalachians - drive a little; camp a little. Take my time and enjoy the sights.

I bought it last week for $1500. 160,000 miles, but have extensive service records showing a ton of maintenance. This past week, just to get it on the road and enjoyable, I had a shop flush the radiator, inspect brakes & suspension, and replace the fuel tank & in-tank pump. I'll get to the other stuff - and there's plenty more to do - hopefully each weekend going forward. Dickson :)
