On Saturday, Jan 2, some of us are planning a short drive/tour on the roads above Glendora and Azusa.
There is a place some of us remember, Glendora Mountain Road, just north of Glendora.
By connecting Glendora with Mt Baldy and then back to Azusa Canyon a nice 50 mile mountain drive is possible. Above the city, perhaps on lightly traveled twisty roads for most of the way.
Probably start around 10am in Glendora. Probably done by noon or 1pm.
More details to come.
The original discussion and some REALLY nice photos and a video for this are located at:

It is time for the '09 AROSC Holiday Party.
Saturday, Dec 12, noon till 5.
You don't have to be a club member to attend. You don't have to drive an Alfa to attend.
You do need to be a little outgoing, have either interesting stories to tell or an ear to hear somebody's story.
You do need to enjoy eating real nice pot luck food as well as some great BBQ done by MJ. And if you have a special dish you like to show of, bring it. If you don't have something to bring we may ask for a few $, but we always forget to ask. . . A bottle of bargin wine would certainly gain you entrance.
New folks are welcome (who else to re-tell our old stories to ??!!)
Our "clubhouse" has a nice video system so if you have some interesting in-car race video bring it. Renedzvous and Victory by Design are usualy playing in the background.
More info and directions at: http://arosc.org/info/2009/holiday_party_09.pdf

Dear experts in performance automobile parts. I am building an oil cooler for my G37 Sport. I have all the hoses and coolers figured out. But I am having hard time finding "Thermostat Sandwich Adapter". Any one know a good dealer around So Cal? And if you have any tips and suggestions please PM me or post on this Thread.

Thank you for your advise.

As I am building. I will be posting more threads. Please further advise me, and wish me LUCK.

Once again thank you

For now I ordered two products off eBay. And spent little over $200.

It's time again for the annual Magnaflow open house. There will be lots of things going on at this event.

9:00AM - 1:00PM

*FREE Dyno Runs*
There will be free dyno runs for all _*Alfa Romeo's *_on Magnaflow's in ground Dynojet Dynamometer. No tuning will be available. If you get your car run, you will receive a horespower and torque print out. We'll have some prize for most overall horsepower and most horsepower per cc. If you would like to get on the signup list, please PM me and I will schedule you in.

*Car Show*
This is an informal car show, no judging. We just want to see your Alfa here. BB members are always posting pictures of their cars on the site and it would be nice to get a chance to see them in person. There are plenty of parking spaces on the side of the building. If you want to sell your Alfa, this might also be a good time to give it a try.

*Swap Meet*
Clean out your garage and bring it over to Magnaflow. You'll be surprised at what you find.

*Location*
Magnaflow is located in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. It's in central Orange County about half way between Los Angeles and San Diego. Because of it's location we get lots of BB members from both of these areas since it's a little over an hour drive from either direction.

*Magnaflow
23201 Antonio Pkwy.
Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688*

If you have any questions, please post them here or shoot me a PM.

Here are some pictures from previous events. Hope to see you there!

*From the October AROSC newsletter:*

November Meeting: Saturday - 14th, 1PM

Elections, White Turkey Sale, and Tour of Dirk Stoehr’s Collection

Here Ye, Here Ye: ELECTIONS!!! As said many times before, attendance at this meeting is the surest way to avoid being nominated from the floor and elected to the Board of Directors. You do not have to be present to be elected, but if elected “you will serve”. Actually the BoD is not a bad job. You get to have dinner out with some friends once a month and you get to be the volunteer selector as opposed to being the volunteer.

NOVEMBER 14th, 1PM to 4PM – The Saturday that could change your life. (not just because of the snacks and beverages) We will have a General Meeting at Italspeed: 3101 S Main St. (the intersection of S. Main and 31st St., 90007, in downtown Los Angeles, the new home of Dirk Stoehr’s eclectic collection of Alfa Romeos and etceterini. This location is about 5 blocks east of the Harbor Fwy (I-110) between Jefferson and Adams, or about 3/4 mile south of the Santa Monica Fwy (I-10). This is one of the friendliest venues we attend. Don’t believe me, just checkout all the prior kudos on the AlfaBB. Dirk is an outstanding and generous host with an automobile and memorabilia collection as outgoing as his personality.

There is ample street parking in the area.

In addition to browsing Dirk’s collection, the other reason for attending this meeting is the Annual White Turkey sale/auction. Clean out the garage. This is an opportunity to load or unload your garage of stuff you reeeaaallly need. If Charlie Schwartz shows up to act as auctioneer, with a dash of wit and wisdom, everything will sell.

The weather should be clear and cool. A few years ago it was below freezing for the entire event, but don't be surprised if it climbs into the 80's.

Willow Springs Raceway is a fun track! (aren't they all?) There's only nine turns and one of them doesn't count (turn 7). The back straight leads into a long sweeper that allows most to really open it up. It's easy on your brakes, most cars only need to brake in three places.

There are plenty of good viewing areas for spectators, including an enclosed balcony overlooking the entire track. Bring your family and friends (note to self: leave the dog at home). The Snack Shack has good food and hot coffee. The people are friendly and the cars are ... well mannered.

Hey Terry,
My wife Mary is interested in Laguna Seca, so count us in.
3/15-16/2010 corrrect?
Mary would drive in DE. I would do TT, but in Group 1 instead of 2 so that we have time to swap seats as we share the car.
Let us know how the plans form up.
2 down, 98 to go!
Thanks.
Roy.

*Response from Terry Major:
thanks for the info, we lost the date, but are working on more, as we speak.

New HP Driver Ed program discussion

*EDIT: Wed Oct 28 7:30am*
I am starting a thread so we can toss out ideas, comments, etc about our new High Performance Drivers Education (DE) held with Time Trials.
AROSC HPDE
A summary of the program:
- Get new drivers onto the track without having 5/6 point belts.
- Give them classroom time before each track session
- Always have an Instructor in the car, either driving or a passenger untill the Instructor is comfortable with letting them out on their own. Usualy late on Sunday for 1 practice session.
- DE cars run on the track with Run Group 3, our slower group that also has Time Trial Novice drivers.
- DE will not be timed

We, AROSC, now have 2 events completed and I think some of us (me included have also done DE with other clubs.
I will start by trying to remember stuff we discussed at Buttonwillow *and now on line.*

1. DE cars should not be in the Timed Run group. If only 1 DE car is slow it becomes a "moving chicane" to cars working on a fast, timed lap.
2. We have to get the DE students to use their mirrors and then give a point by when they are being passed. Some help (another set of eyes) from the instructor will help that.
3. I/we have to develop a better classroom outline geared for the DE program. I am used to 50 minute classes from our School. For DE there is only about 20 minutes a class. Gotta get some visual stuff to make up for that.
4. Have DE class 2 run groups before they are on the track (class during run group 1, DE runs in Group 3). We lost some laps and created unnecessary panic by running some classes too long.
5. For 1 day entries, Saturday only. Coming in Sunday puts out a real slow, inexperienced driver with faster cars.
*6. Possible: DE first session separate from Group 3, for the first session on Sat (steal time from all other Groups). Use this time to warm them up*

*We have a date: Feb 27 - 28, Streets of Willow.
*
:D:)
Can you think of somebody who could use some help with their driving?
How are your skills, really?
Want to graduate from Time Trials to Racing?
I'm bringing my 16 yr old granddaughter and I spoke to someone else who is sending his young daughter.
So make plans now. Registration forms should be ready by late January.
Keep watching at AROSC-HPD Home Page
See you at School.
