rewire an 80 gtv?

i'm not sure if this is one of the stupidest things i've considered, but here it goes anyway

i'm restoring my 80 gtv and am thinking of my electrical system and i wanted to know how hard it is to rewire the whole car? i previously had a minor fire and dont trust the electrics anymore. i'm also pretty pants when i comes to electrical systems, but am willing to give it a go.

i've been doing some digging around here and it looks like there are 3 options
-rewire it completely
-but an aftermarket harness and adapt it or
-partially rewire the harness.

thanks in advance

78 Spider fuses and wiring

Does anyone have a picture/diagram indicating the correct location/size of the 10 fuses under the dash of my '78 Spider?
I am in the process of rewiring some old connections and want to be sure that I start with the correct baseline. My tail/reverse lights and indicator lights are not working, and the Hi/Lo headlights seem to have a mind of their own - sometimes one works, other times the other!
Thanks in advance for any help!!!:D

Tidying up the wiring on my '67 GTV- what is original?

Hi everyone!
I'm in the process of fettling a few things on my step-front coupe that are required to pass a roadworthy inspection. This included fixing a non-working high beam on one side. Thinking it was just a blown fuse or globe, I started tinkering and discovered (horror of horrors......) that the original high beam wire had been cut and replaced by some speaker wire running to the opposite side parking light! Needless to say, it wasn't strong enough to stand up to it and had let the smoke out at some stage.

The whole loom is now out of the engine bay from the fusebox forward and I've discovered a few other lovelies such as solid core 240v house wiring etc etc. Papajam was more than helpful by supplying one of his wiring diagrams (hence my gold subscription!) but it's for a Sprint GT and might have a few differences to the GTV version. While my loom has been hacked, I can't find any trace of an engine bay light or trigger switch in the wiring, nor a place to mount it. Should it be present? I ratted one from a 1750 berlina (mounted under the bonnet) along with half the loom (thanks Graham!) so I can always pop that in if it's correct.

I have a feeling that the indicator wires are a different colour to those shown in the diagram too but will have to check on that when I'm looking at the loom. Can anyone confirm this?

Last thing- were the looms originally wrapped in heat shrink, black amalgamating tape or black electrical tape? I can redo it in any of these, but would prefer it to look as correct as possible :)
