I was thinking that a Fluids Section could be a good idea. This could a place where racers, everyday uses, and rebuilders of engines could inform others of their experiences with different oils (brands, weights and addivitives) coolants and brake fluids. Not an advertising thread but more of a recommendation of what should be used and what to stay away from.

Having little experience in the use of different oils, for different applications and the vast amount of products on the market. I find it a hard to know which way to turn e.g. Mineral, semi-synthetic and fully synthetic oils, the length of time after a rebuild to change the oil and if people still run-in engines on mineral before changing to synthetics. I know a rebuilder could tell me this, but that is just one man, the years of experience in this forum could share a whole lot more.

Maybe some have taken and keeped oil analsys of rebuilt, run-in engines and older engines, that could be posted and changes thay have made to the oils they have used and what works and what doesn't.

Time intervals between changes e.g. km's/time

Maybe, Oils used in; Nord engines compared to Twin spark,
Cast Iron blocks to Alloy Blocks
and Racers to Daily drivers

This Section/Sticky/Tread where ever it may go or what ever it is, could also cover, Transmission, Differentials, Steering Boxs, Cooling system and Brake systems, with treads on when to install oil coolers, e.g. temps/applications and what to use when running in cold weather areas.

This has been covered in many treads but a Section/Sticky/Tread to bring them all together, could be very informative to the forum.

It would be nice to get the weath of knowledge shown in this forum to come together and share what they used in their Alfas over the last 99 years.

I suggest a section...maybe next to the "off topic" scetion... where flame contests, peeing contests, name calling and general rudeness can be moved to.
