Our Alfa Giulietta group has a recent member. M.... has been involved in racing vintage Brit cars for some time, and returned to the marque with a Red Giulietta Sprint.

When we met, M.... said that he had driven from Toronto to Vancouver in a Giulietta Sprint in 1966. I mentioned that I had bought one in 1968 and he asked "What colour?"

I said "Dark blue"--He said "That must have been mine."

Bought in August, the Red Sprint's head gasket recently failed and it was discovered that the engine was "junk".

The engine in my recently acquired 63 Sprint is a 1600 and has been removed pending the instal of a "built" 2 L.:D

As it is a non-original one from 1967 with an Alfetta sump I've been wondering what to do with it.

Sold it to M.... for, I guess, about twice I paid him for the Sprint some 40 years ago.

Probably a silly question here, but I would like to know the going price to put on my 1993 Alfa 164L?I want to get it right. It was a California car,no rust,no leaks,no air/heat.A fan blade appears on console when I first crank her up.That just happen lately, the ac was making a squealing noise ever since I had her.The tires are in good shape. The paint is very faded,a crack front spoiler. It has just something over 126,000 miles. There's split in one seam of drivers seat. The seat doesn't want to lower and I actually believe the seat moves backwards without any help from me.Maybe it's the stretch of pushing the clutch in when I start it that makes it seem so.But it's something I notice every time I get in,once it was to far forward.Enough.It has limo tint, clean carpets. No key fob.The mechanic seem surprise about it being in better shape than he imagine, from the looks of the paint job,I guess. No dents,no carfax accidents listed. So $2500 from the curb?

Alfa Club looking for Radios for club events?

The Northwest Alfa Romeo Club (NWARC) is selling our 13 Maxon 2 Way VHF Radios complete with chargers and more. They all work perfectly, and are all 4 channel radios. We have used them for a couple years at our club events to communicate between the different volunteers and leads. These are perfect for Car Shows and Gatherings, Club Track Events, and great when hosting a Convention. (Personally, I think maybe the national US club should own these and loan them out to each club as part of their Convention Kit.)

$390.00 takes the whole package... Or something really close to this amount.

The model numbers on these 13 radios... 10 are SP120V and 3 are SP100B.

The Radios come in our weather tight storage container. The chargers are contained in second storage container and are wired in series. All Radios may be charged at the same time by the use of one 120 volt outlet.

There are three spare Batteries included. Also included are 8 hand held MIC's, and 1 ear bud with mouth MIC.

Shipping to US only. Shipping is $20.00 to anywhere in the US. No Charge pickup may be available if you find yourself in the Pacific Northwest.

Reply or send me a PM... or knock on my door... I don't care! Just let me know if you have questions or want these radios! Thanks!

Wierd Spider leak

My '91 Spider has begun to drip ATF. There is no leak from the A/T or its cooler, so it's safe to assume that it's from the power steering circuit, but the actual source of the leak is not evident.

Every morning, when the engine compartment is at ambient temperature (about 70° here in Florida), while backing out of the driveway, a strip of fluid appears on the driveway and street. Since these are asphalt, it looks as if the car is leaking terribly, but the P/S fluid level has remained at normal after several weeks.

Once the car warms to operating temperature, the leak disappears.

There is no leak at the pump end. The rack and pinion box is wet as is the low pressure hose near the box. The hose fittings are tight.

I put the car on a lift and inspected it with a professional mechanic. We still cannot identify any source for the leak. Of course this was after driving about 10 miles to the shop, so the engine compartment was warm.

Any suggestions about what might be wrong and how to remedy the situation would be appreciated.

Nice read from Peter Vack's VeloceToday website. Pete did a nice story on the Alfa 164 some years ago and used my pictures for the story.

He lives near us in Williamsburg, VA.

He states, "Last time we bought an Alfa GT, circa 1980, it cost $900. It was a hobby then.

Thought I found a gem while surfing the net. Found this car on Eastgate Motors,,google the site to look at it. Really an extremely nice person selling it
but unfortunately it was not in real nice condition and the mileage is 61k.

He has some really neat cars--none really for sale.Still has the Healy that he
ran in a couple Mille Miglias.

Wife was scared that I was going to be an Alfa owner again! Not to be-

My lack of Knowledge was also a problem. I thought all Q's were all wheel drive. Nice ride up to Ny anyway!!
