--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, thanks for the encouragement guys, time for a little update: I installed my 12v cams last week and I'm waiting for a dyno/mapping date any day now. Without it the car is ****ty at low revs, just like a carbed 4cylinder with godzilla cams...goes to show you what proper mapping is expected to do! Over 3500 though its way better than the Motronic cams even with lack of fuel. I'm not driving it as I hate the uneven idle.
Besides the cams, I'm working on CSC lookalike headers with 42mm OD pipes (in place of 3 all stainless steel, complete with flexpipes. Should have the prototype set on the car mid-February and then its mass production time! Lets see how many of you guys are serious about wanting these things! The price is still a secret.
Then there's the 3liter ###### of which I should have a prototype finished in about a month. It will have a much cleaner shape than what's available so far. I'don't know yet but there may also be a 2.5liter version.
You expect a V6 book on March? I just learned the 4cyl reprint will be available then! And speaking of 4cyls, tomorrow I'm flow testing my final finished big-valve TS head. I will test with and w/o the (excellent) AHM manifold, 45mm Haltech ITB's and 3 different valve shapes. I do expect good numbers. Valve sizes are 46.6/38mm.
For the 1.8T, I am waiting for a water/air intercooler I got from ebay Italy and the Cosworth ECU and harness (much better tuneability)
The Evo bodykit+hood+trunklid arrived last week and I'm going to see it, weigh the parts and take some pics tomorrow (due to size I had them shipped to a friend's warehouse)
Re. the 3liter car now....something clicked and I'm bent on selling it after I map and dyno. I have a firm buyer but I'm thinking of the 24v engine. If I sell it with the 12v, I'll be left with a finished 24v on the stand...makes me question whether the book should end with the 12v dyno and just the 24v engine build; something to think about.

Maybe the title should be "Alfa Romeo 12V V6 Engine High-Performance Manual" maybe then we can expect it to publish when they say. 24V can be another undertaking perhaps. Just wanted to know if I should keep a look out for it in March or just forget about it for now. Right now I own a 2.5 and I doubt he has anything astounding to share for that displacement.

I'd say March 2009 is a better bet. (No offense to Jim K!) I've got my money in hand to buy one like everyone else.

I have an idea to finish the V6 book with the 12v engine map/dyno results in various tuned versions (mild street/track and more serious road/track guise). If I go this way, the entire undertaking is greatly accelerated. The 24v engine section will contain all the building/improvement info but not installation and testing. As far as the 2.5liter, there is head porting information and everything else is the same with the 3liter.

Are you saying this March is accurate Jim?
Do you have any info on the Alfa Sei heads in there?
Thanks,

March is when Veloce will come out with the 4cyl book reprint. This happened so fast, they would not include new TS big-valve head porting info I had! They just accepted some minor revisions/corrections. You see, to include substantially more info and pictures/drawings, they would have to completely revise their printing setup for more pages etc. This would create more cost and they can't increase the price (being a reprint) so all new 4cyl stuff (mostly TS and 1.8Turbo material) will be waiting for I don't know what...a revision of the revised edition?
Re. the V6, even if I had all the material ready now, they would normally require more than 3 months to have a book ready. I know most of you are justifiably tired of waiting but the way I see it, I have the chance to include more good stuff as I continue to work on the headers and some other important items (already done with rods and cams). I really want to make available very serious performance parts at decent prices for the readers; this is the most important product of my work. The dollar/Euro exchange rate is unfortunately unfavorable for readers in NA, otherwise the rods for example would cost 1/3rd of the Carrillos for the same quality! Can't get better than that!

I have absolutely nothing to do with the book format; the publisher chooses the type of cover, I just supply the picture. I suspect they want to have uniform looks for all their manuals.

I'll buy it even if the cover is made of toilet paper - its what's inside that counts.
If you're interested, I'd vote for a 12v version with the initial 24v info and then when you get the next installment of the 24v info, whack it in the reprint (much as per the TS info for the 4cyl book).

I've got my 1973 Berlina revamped wiring essentially complete. The 1991 164B has turned out to be a pretty reliable car and a nice runner. It still need the rear suspension rebuilt. I really need to turn my attention to the Red 164S. This is not a complaint or criticism, but I need to get started on it in the next month or so. I was hoping the book would be out, but I'll get started without it and of course get it when it is available.
