Sure, you can by complete kits.

Try a web search or hit one of the many links off of the megasquirt site.

The Nord is the 2.0 liter engine used in the US. I say Nord to differentiate it from the twin spark (TS) which is widely used in the rest of the globe and making its way to the US in some modified cars. Intake and exhaust manifolds are different between the two.

Turbo Nord

By all means please keep up informed as to your progress. I am extremely interested in this project. Do you think that it will be ready to go by the end of the year?

Only dumb questions I know are the ones you are embarassed to ask. And not asking is the only dumb part.

Alfas were originally all built in Milan - "Milano". Even marked on the alfa badge. After the financial collapse of the 70's amid nationwide labor strikes, the Italian government nationalized Fiat, and bought Alfa out of bankruptcy (and Ferrari after a purchase by Ford failed) into the Fiat conglomerate. They opened a 'new' alfa plant in southern Italy, where unemployment had been very high, as a government socia/industrial engineering program.

The two facilities were labeled Alfa North ('Nord' in italian) and Alfa South ('Sud'), and produced different cars and components. The US imports - spiders and GT's - remained in production in Milan, but the "Milano" label was removed from the roundel.

So we generally refer to the 70's vintage four cylinder engines as "Nord" motors, and the Twin Sparks as "TS" motors.

Alfa Nord

Robert

Thank you for the reply. That explains why my mother had an Alfa Sud when I was a teenager. I thrashed that car into the ground when I was allowed to
Regards

Me too, me too....

Hi. Just found this board as I am just ramping a restoration project into high gear. I've been verrrrry slowly "restoring" a '74 GTV for several years. Just too many projects. Now I'm focused on this one. I did have the head redone by Sperry before they went away. Now I'm looking for good engine builders in either the SoCal area (where the engine is now) or in the WA state area (where the car is now) or any where in between.

This is a very interesting way to handle good power and reliability. So please keep the information coming. Thanks!

This is way interesting...though i'm an atmo kind of guy, 200 bhp and the hissing of the turbo can really change a man, CAN THIS SETUP BE USED ON A 2.0L TS?

Sorry no new pictures. The pieces are coming together and progress continues. Jim will be picking up an 85 Spider next week which will serve as the test car.

Here is a picture of the completed EL (equal length) header. This setup is good for over 400BHP on a 2.0 liter but requires internal engine modifications; low CR forged pistons, windage tray, oil squirters and the like. This is the latest setup on my Alfetta GTV. Note the double slip joint for the wastegate dump. A tube in a tube in a tube... provides movement for expansion due to heat yet does not leak, well not much anyway.

This kit is for the Nord, but one could be made for the TS. Ping Jim or me if you are interested in going TS Turbo.

Here is a picture of the header that is used on the Bonneville engine which is a TS. This particlular one dynod at 550BHP and 500TQ!

Brian, is the equal length header the one that comes with this kit or is it the log style manifold you showed originally?

The tubular log is what we are using for the 200-225BHP setup. A log manifold can easily support up to 400BHP albeit not as efficiently, meaning there would be more back pressure in the system than would be with an EL design.

If someone wants to go for more power an EL header can be had, Nord or TS.
