can anyone help me with the installation of the alfa romeo 1977 2.0l crankshaft plugs i mean some drawing or internet links to find where the crankshaft plugs are how can i change this
I would expect that the replacement of crank plugs would begin with their being removed by a machine shop... They are aluminum pins which are driven into the oil passage bores, sealing them up after drilling or cleaning.
The attached photo shows two of the 6 (I think) plugs that are necessary. Usual suspect Alfa suppliers should have them available. They deed to be driven in tight, because if they fall out, oil pressure will will drop precipitously.
One school of execution has these holes tapped and sealed with set screws.
my problem is, i do not find the oil plugs, where the crankshaft plugs are located, because i am rebulding my 2.0l motor but i do not find any plugs in the crankshaft are they hard to find? i mean of course they are in the crankshaft but i did not found any plugs and still looking for pictures or drawings that can help me to find out where the oil plugs are
if you plug them with new plugs or drill and tap them in either case use red locktite when you put the new ones back in.
Hi Gigem, do you have a catalog number for the red Loctite.
Thanks
Giorgio
