direction of the pistons in a v6

Please let me know if this is correct:
The arrows on the pistons must face the front of the engine, ie where the crank pulley is.

yes?no?
Thanks!!
Mike

The service manual mentions this, yes, arrows pointing towards the front of the engine.

Yes - and of GREATER importance is the direction of the rods! Have a very careful gander at the off-set on the rods! (It's a very common mistake - even for an experienced eye...)

And the offsets are NOT one way (all forward) like the pistons. They alternate.

the rods were not removed from the pistons, so I should be ok as long as i put the pistons back in the correct numerical order, with the arrows facing front, right?

Never assume....

During the stripdown of an engine supposedly built "by a Lotus engineer", I found the 4-5-6 rods were in backwards. This caused the engine to develop a serious smoking habit in very short order after it was rebuilt.

Refer to the picture in the manual (even having just done one recently, I'm not about to try and describe the right way round), and be careful - it's easy to get yourself turned around if you have the block on a stand and are working upside down/rightside up as you put the pistons back in.
