Rebuild, Leave Alone, or Something Else

I have a 2L with about 15K - 20K miles on it that I've owned since 1984. It came from a 1978 Spider that got totaled early in life.

It is currently out of the car and I was thinking of doing a re-freshening before I install it. The engine has never been apart. I started it last year and it runs fine, good oil pressure, no excessive oil smoke.

Being over 30 years old I'm concerned about the gaskets starting to leak and any seals or intenal part that may go bad from age.

What kind of rebuild should I do on this engine and what should I leave alone?

front/rear oil seals?? cheap to replcae,, esp. with the motor out

I was planning on changing the oil pan and cam cover gaskets. How about the water pump?

Look at it this way. Would you do to an engine like this going into a car that your 18 year old daughter was about to drive across country?

lol.. wiggle the water pump pully, if some play, replace the pump, and give your daughter all of the address and phone numbers that you need on her route across the counrty, from this board..i will start... i like in sacramento, ca..916.412.9052..if she needs help, and coming this way..just call..
