Head corrosion

I'm starting to work on the engine for the 67 Giulia Sprint Veloce that I'm building for my wife and today I used a very mildly abrasive 3M plastic disc to remove the remnants of the head gasket that had adhered to the mating surface. There are a few areas where the corrosion is pretty bad........perhaps a mil or two in depth. I'm not sure if it's easy to judge by the attached photo, but I'm curious what the popular opinion is regarding whether or not I can run this head as is. I really hate to have it surfaced as increasing the compression ratio is something I really don't want to do. I intend to build this motor to completely stock specs and I'd like to be able to run it on pump gas without pinging.

OK, so for some reason my image didn't post. Does the site support Flickr hosted images?

try this.. if the corrosion is on a mating surface( like mine was)just clean it reallly well. get some jb weld..mix it up, thumb some in under pressure( this way you get all the voids out)then with a new, clean razor blade, run the razor bade across the surface of the head and smooth it out. this will close the pits/corrosion volds in the head. let dry for 24 hours... should be just fine.

...or a good head shop can fill them, my head had some corrosion at the coolant passages as well, and they weld-filled and smoothed the area, repair looks great.
