Unhappy Ignition dwell figures

Hi, are there any clever people out there, who know how to convert a dwell reading measured in degree's, to a dwell reading of percentage, as my dwell metre only reads in percentage ( % )
I am hoping to set the dwell angle on a Maranelli distributor, on an Alfetta GTV 2ltr Euro model. My manual is telling me it's 57 to 63 degree's, and i need to know how many % these readings equate to.

Hello !

I guess its like this: 57 deg / 360 deg = 15,8 %. 63 deg / 360 deg = 17,5%.

Hello Morten,
thank you for your reply on these figures, i had worked out the following,
57 deg divided by 3.60 = 15.8% multiply by 4 cylinders = 63.3% dwell
63 deg divided by 3.60 = 17.5% multiply by 4 cylinders = 70% dwell

I am hoping the timing already on the engine will fall somewhere between these two figures, do you think i have calculated them correctly?

Andy

Your calculation is correct I think because your breaker opens 4 times in 1 distributor revolution. What are the limits on your meter, maybe it can be used as a guidance. On mine its between 40 - 80 degrees.
