Code Reader for EFI

Don't know if this applies to Alfa's but I have a couple of post 96 cars that I'm sure will give me trouble before I die. I'm thinking about getting a code reader so I don't have to rely on some pimply faced kid everytime the check engine light comes on.

Are there any relible ones for under $50.00 or so? What should I look for?

Actron has readers starting at as low as $30 and can be found at many local autoparts type stores. (who, if you weren't aware, will usually read a code for you for free)

I'd spend a bit more and get a code reader that can give you "Freeze Frame" readings; basically, it'll save all the engine sensor readings from when the error code occurred, so you can see at what speed, rpm, engine temp, throttle position, MAP, etc the engine was at. Much more useful as a diagnostic tool.

These'll cost around $120 to $130.

I got mine at Kragen for around $120. Try SummitRacing.com for a few more choices and good prices.

Some very cheap ones will just give the code and you'll have to see what it means in a book, better tell what the code is as well as the letter/number combination.

Oh and spam reported
