88 Graduate no spark

Hi
I have an 88 Graduate, 48,000 miles, always ran super good

the tach died a year ago but everything running wise was still good
then it began to give me trouble starting when sitting for awhile
finally one day after a 15 mile trip to town, 4 hours sitting then it would not start
each time I would find no spark
until the last time it just came back after a while and started.
Now have no spark, replaced coil and still no spark

I have replaced both crank position sensors

I am an old ford guy, worked on a lot of old british but nothing computerized....... I don't know what to check next.
I have the shop manual but that is not much good for this stuff
Please help or direct me to some help
no mechanics in this area will work on it

The L-jet computers (there are two - FI & ignition) require ~ 10.5V or more to power up. If the battery charge is low or there is resistance in the battery to starter circuit then system voltage can drop below that threshold during cranking. Connect a voltmeter to the battery and see what it reads. With everything off a fully charged battery should show 12.6V. Next see what it reads during cranking. Our '84 Spider shows 11.6V - 11.8V during cranking.

If it reads low during cranking, clean all connections including the ground cable's connection to the body (kind of hidden in the back of the trunk). While you're doing that charge up the battery then re-test.
