GoTech Alfetta w/Stock 2.0 SPICA Manifold - It Works!!!
Wow! Awesome - you know - it seems that we always get so excited about ripping of "the old crap" and installing the new shiny stuff, that we tend to over-look basics such as before and after dyno-runs, pictures etc...
In any event, while Ron Simons and I were doing our little " 'round the country in 2 weeks " song-and-dance, Group 2 finished up a GoTech conversion on another member's Alfetta GTV here!
The goals were fairly basic;
1) Budget install, using an entry-level GoTech and as many of the OEM Alfetta parts as possible.
2) Gaining full control over fuel & spark with additional functionality available to grow with expansion of the power-plant (going turbo, or a high-compression rebuild or a twin-spark swap or whatever down the line...)
3) A user-friendly system that controls BOTH timing and ignition within a single unit (without the use of any external ignition-modules or converted L-Jet ECUs or any vacuum bazooka-boxes!)
4) Increased horsepower with good start-up and running characteristics after a short dyno-session!
5) Re-using/modifying the existing SPICA intake manifold (which already runs 4 individual throttle-bodies) to accept the new Bosch-type EFI fuel injectors.
I have to say; upon my return - they scored pretty high and right-on in all areas! The car runs great, puts out about 100 horsepower at the wheels from a - if you don't mind me saying so - very tired little stock 2.0, with the original cams, heads, pistons etc!
I'll grab some pics when the car is back at the shop next!
