I did get the high lift cams. Haven't yet decided what to do with all this. I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine and am planning to re-install the Bosch FI. Hopefully it all works.

I actually have two motors. One is supposed to be the original, the one in the car - the one partially apart - had the high lift cams, 10:1 pistons, and the aftermarket FI setup.

Once I get it all together and running, I'll decide what is surplus to my needs.

Hi Murray,

where do you have your throttle bodies from? They look 1:1 like my VGS throttle bodies from germany, but without color. ( www.vgs-tuning.com )

Edit:

Hey Murray, why did you edit your post? Was very interesting !!!

--------------------

Holy **** !

Whow, such long tubes... yes, your friend is right, this length will surely reduce your top end power.
To be honest, i donīt think that an exhaust VVT will completely counter-act that.
Who did calculate your tube lengths? Even the Audi supertourismo 2 liter engine we once owned had much shorter tubes... and that engine was air-restricted and had a 8500rpm rev limit.

Well: test it on the dyno and compare the results - thatīs the only right way !

Thomas

I second the TWM air-box, I'm getting one too, once the engine is in the car, I'll share the plumbing/air-box ideas.

Cheers, Nick

Since my car is a '69 GTV with the 4 headlights, I don't really know where to cut (if I will) or do the plumbing right now... The car is at the painters and the engine is on the bench, so all I can do right now is realize that the TWM box is simliar to the GTA box and the GTA air pick-up is where my inside light is... But I'll figure something out... I might have to figure out a naca duct like funnel sticking out in front of the radiator, but all those thoughts will be so much easier with some cardboard and 3" hose when I know where to put the air filter...

Cheers, Nick

Are you using a modified injection manifold?

Take a look at my manifold, I'm using the 45mm rubber mounts on a ported 1600 weber manifold.

Yum! Nice big head porting... Here's a shot of my valve size... My head is NOT machined yet... (and I did the porting on the manifold)

PS, Looks real nice...

This is how much material I had to taper in from the std 40mm Weber manifold... Look at the blue line.

Custom TS intake manifold

Here are some pics from my self- made TS-engine intake manifold for 45mm throttle bodies. Not finished yet...

The tubes are 10 deg. inclined upwards and also set approx. 3mm upwards to reduce the "break" in the intake port.

Tomorrow they go out for welding together...

Well, the following mods are planned:
individually produced cams by Schleicher (Munich, Germany)
forged pistons, connecting rods (from saenz, if this will work with the centralized buying from a forum member), exhaust manifold from OKParts, head is made from a specialist (www.mtkkolb.de) with bigger valves and so on, lightened crankshaft and flywheel, special clutch, EMS fuel injection.
Engine should have some 210 PS on the flywheel when finished... but this surely will take until the middle of the year !

I put mine in the dash( behind the radio If had one.) I do not know if there would be room for with a radio, I have not checked.

Plus I would need to pull the heater blower under the passager side of the dash to run the new harness out the fire wall in the same location as the old harness comes out at. To make matter's worst the carpet feels like it is glued down to the insulation.

The ECU is 190 mm x 190 mmx 38 mm I am sure it has a connection to plug into to be able to tune it on a lap top so it would be nice to have it accessible. So tucking it up under the dash may not be a good option. The operating temp. range of the unit is -40 c to plus 85 c so the that needs to be taken into account in placement too.

Any ideas?

Murray
