I have a GTV 105, and i want to put a v6 3.0L on it, Some people have done it, like on the net. I know that it is possible. But...it will cost alot of time and alot of Experiments. Like Customise oil pan, fit the original fly wheel and exhaust manifolds ...Ect...., So if anybody has any Experience Or a good website. A little help would do good.

4-Valve Heads for a Milano 3.0 Engine
Similarly, does anybody know if the 164LS 4-valve V-6 heads will fit a 3.0 litre 2-valve Milano engine without modification beyond accessories such as the crank pulley, which I assume might be different? Are we talking about changing out the crank, rods & pistons, such that it is best to just find an LS engine?
Thanks for indulging an alfa greenhorn!

A lot of things have to be changed, so you're better off stuffing the whole 4-cam engine in, also replacing the following: oil pump, oil pan, flywheel, crank pulley and then, you have to figure out how to mount the power steering pump and a few other things. You'll also need the 24v ECU and harness. If it all sounds simple, it isn't, but it can be done. The most expensive part, will probably be the headers you have to make, or buy.
Go for it, the performance hike is well worth it!

You may want to contact the guy who did an excellent job with a 3liter in a Spider: www.g-site.com/alfaxtc/
Good luck!

so the whole engine swap PLUS the pump, pan and accessories? No power steering pump on my '84 GTV-6, but the rest sounds like a serious investment in time & money. Maybe in 20 years when my kid's out of college and I can relax a bit... Sounds like it might be cheaper and faster to turbo/supercharge the 2.5 or 3.0L 12 valve with a conservative boost, per another thread on this list.

For US folks, the toughest part wil be to mate the 105 tranny to the engine since the 164 V6 was Fwd. Some conversions have used Maserati trans and bell bousings, I think. Talk to Hans since he's used an Alfa 6 tranny in his '73 GTV6, but IIRC he was working on a different approach for a V6 Spider he's working on.

So what do you guys think would be a better setup for the v6 in a gtv. To use a alfa 6 transmission with the 164 engine or a Maserati transmission with 164 engine??

Yeah, in terms of ease of install, defintely Greg Gordon's supercharger on a 2.5. The good thing is you have 9:1 pistons as standard. Upgrade to a fully programmable EFI, you're looking at a very powerful car. Maybe 230 - 250 bhp depending on how much boost you dial in.
