Twinspark Variants

First of all, Thank you Simon! for setting up this new forum.

I recently obtained two Twinspark cores to use for a planned conversion into a '70 GTjr. While the engines seem almost identical, there are small differences -- the one that I notice right away was the plate that covers the spark plug wires on the cam cover: One has Alfa Romeo in script, the other in block letters. Got me to wondering how many variants of the TS engine there are. The numbers on mine both start with AR06224, one is followed by 038303 and the other 022059. Anyone out there know what cars they came out of?

Thanks!

John

G'Day John,

Well, unless they're off a front wheel drive they're from an Alfa 75 TS.

No other rear wheel drive had the TS engine (AR06224).

Could just be a change of design. Remember that even the Alfa SOHC V6 has 4 versions of the cam cover.
Smooth cam covers with cursive Alfa Romeo
Ribbed cam covers with block Alfa Romeo
Ribbed cam covers with cursive Alfa Romeo
Ribbed cam covers with cursive Alfa romeo and repositioned oil cap

If it was from a 155, the plenum would be totally different.

Have only seen the script type covers on the 75, I think the block letter one comes from a FWD model.

If it's a FWD engine, the back of the engine it different. Can't even use those blocks in a RWD w/ trans attached.

Sounds like it's just a trim option change...
