Who made your Distributer cover plates on the front of the engine?

Looks great and thanks for the inspiration, seeing as I have one of those engines sitting in storage waiting for me to get the courage together to do the conversion.

Ciao!

I have made some of these up for some customers in the past and the theory is the length improves low end torque and i think they look and sound great! Especially in tunnels The covers prevents low flying birds from being sucked in

Only just tried the bonnet the other day - was really worried about it not clearing, but it fits perfectly.

Hey Insoc, all work was carried out by my son and I - bar the flywheel and extractors which would simply prove too time consuming.

Yes you must start this weekend! look forward to seeing the progress.

Cheers.

Ts

Can they handle the extra torque? I'm worried about your hood.

Thank you Dino246,

Did you use a CNC machine? They look so well made, I am curious what method/tools you used to create them?

I am planning to go distributerless with my build, and possibly Fuel Injection. I am not going to use the stock electronics as I think it looks to cluttered. Alfaholics in the UK offer a custom intake that allows you to mount weber carbs to the TS engine, and it has the throttle assembly mount built into it, something I do not see in any of the competition. This allows me to use the stock throttle route wether I use Webers or Individual Throttle Bodies for Fuel Injection. So that is the only issue I am on the fence on. Webers or ITB FI? And I change my mind all the time...

Excellent work Dino246!

As for the trumpets... I think its just a case of knowing what to do with your hands and the right tools - not secret mens business at all - you just have to use initiative and be creative :P

Dino246,

Very nice! An inspiration to those of us also planning this conversion. I'm wondering what headers and exhaust system you used?

Thanks!

Agree. Alfa Romeo has a very proud history, no need to tack on to the Ferrari crowd.

The 4-leafed clover is the racing symbol for Alfa Romeos. The P3's only had the SF badges because Alfa Romeo paid Ferrari to prepare their cars ...

ps: Clean conversion.

No just made up some templates and cut them from some sheet aluminum. Yer that alfaholics intake manifold is quite nice and quite expensive i would imagine. You can modify the original TS one if you make up some aluminum flanges for the carb mounts and find a good aluminum welder or if your game with a tig have a go. Go for a set of 45's keeps things simple and makes the right sounds.

Thankyou, we used Pace headers which i had ceramic coated, and we made up our own 2.5" mandrel bent system with two 350mm 'hotdog' mufflers nice and quiet at cruising speed but picks up in the revs sounds great!

Cheers.

Hello Again Dino246,

Thanks again for your response.

I have some lightened and forged connecting Rods for my TS, and I have decided to keep the stock compression and valve sizes, however I plan on having custom intake valves made with more efficient angles, and polish. I would not mind forged pistons as well, but it seems anyone making that currently are only offering more then 10:1 compression, and that seems like it might be pushing it for a street pump gas car...

I have custom headers made already that bolt to the stock exhaust, they are a set from Autocomponenti that took quite a bit for me to get...

Now Weber 45's are not cheap, and would almost cost me the price of a Megasquirt and two Weber Throttle bodies... But injectors and fuel pump add to the price so I understand that the 45's would be simpler to do, and more traditional, so I greatly appreciate your input here!

Thanks for your time!

Forgot to mention: I have not given any thought to the Cams yet. Not something I am looking forward too...

Dino246 - Very clean conversion, very impressed, cant wait to see it! Congratulations!

And PSK and GTV-GR - who gives a toss if someone puts a SF badge on their car, worry about something else...

Go to all that trouble and theres always a couple of blokes who have to whinge about the slightest detail...

Josh.
