He wasn't talking about a build based on a 14K rpm, 50K Euro DTM motor, he was talking about 450 NA horses from a production, 164 LS (Super), or 156 generation block - no amount of "upgrades" will make that pig fly past the 300-425 NA and 350 to 700hp TT limits...
Its simpoly not in the design.

I did see the printout, 452HP...
This is something of the specs of this 'mistery' car.... It has been around on this forum as well, the owner is sidetracked racing his 156 STW in Dutch trofeo, he has a 155 STW as well.
3.5 V6 24V , slide throttle assy, dry sump, in which the dry sump plate incorporates the lower crankshaft bearings.
Cosworth forged pistons, venolia rods, very specially done heads....
Ir did 452 HP on the bench, then a distri belt snapped. This was a faulty belt, the manufacturer paid up. (it was supposed to have an arrow on it pointing direction, not having them, the engine guy, whom I know and he builds really the VERY BEST installed them as unidirectional. )
The maufacturer said you should have the arrow point in the right direction! What arrow? etc...
Other specs: Hewland 6 speed sequential G/box, launch control, etc, for 550 maranello, carbon glued driveshaft, etc etc. Over 150000 euro sunk in the car already.... (over $200000,-) and not finished yet...
believe the 452 HP... once on the track, it will be awesome..
Based on a genuine IMSA 75...
but hey, lets not get sidetracked, this is a cool project as well!
more pics!!!

I don't think much. That guy in Austrailia who used to race a GTA with one was only getting 240 out of his race-prepped 2.5.

Are the heads modded like the bikes I have seen with smaller ports to get better pumping as opposed to pure flow?

wow, really excited to see how this works out and that you're keeping it all alfa!
can't wait for the finished product and to see if you can keep all the power to the ground and launch!
any chance you can share your budget? PM me if you don't want it public and don't mind sharing. I'd love to do this to my spider, but wondering the $$ range...
thanks

Demon's Heart Completed.
Engine is now being tested, tuned and maped. Here are some details of the build:
3.7 litre specification including 100mm Ross Racing aluminium-alloy pistons, custom forged steel tapered wrist pins and double retainers, Total Seal Gapless/Standard Competition ring-set, forged, chrome-molly steel connecting rods from Pauter Machine
Brand-new, long-stroke, 3.2 litre 156/147 GTA crank and bearings.
Prepare block; including over-bore to receive brand new 120mm OD steel liners
Heads ported to proprietary street/track performance specification, custom Group 1 cams with proprietary Group 1 valve-seat profile, brand new valve guides, brand new valve-stem seals, brand new engine gasket-set, brand new timing belt idler pulleys, belt-tensioner and belt.
I supplied John and Dawie with my flywheel and pulley (pulley was then converted to 60-2) and balanced with entire assembly.
At this moment, engine is being run in a test car for tuning, heat/freeze cycle and being maped. Won't be long now....
GoldCloverLeaf - You've got jokes, guy! But sorry man! You're about to be blinded once again!
Johnny - Thanks for the hook-up!
Stay tuned all. A LOT more to follow...

...when is the last time that you saw one of those motors being driven daily...? Get real. How much to build a factory DTM motor? Yeah, the 2.5 made 450 at 14K rpm and a complete rebuild between each race...
We are talking about a street-able motor here - not THE MOST EXTREME ELIMINATION knock-out pipe-dream whatever story! Sorry bud, but let's discuss this within context of what the man IS doing, not what he SHOULD HAVE COULD HAVE DONE....
No flame-roasting here - just reality...

Dawie made his in to 3.3 litres! he even built one with fully-programmable stand-alone engine management system, (yes, a GoTech), coil-packs, full electronic EFI, something like 10.7:1 or 11:1 compression and it still made less than what we make with a mild 3.45 litre 24 valve...
Let's face it - the 2.6 V8 made it in to the Montreal after Alfa Romeo themselves could not build a reliable strong motor from it... After it was detuned, it was a huge success....

One small correction here Michael - the one 24 valve motor in the pics above with the valve covers off is actually my 3.45 litre that is going in my street 164 LS with a 6-speed close-ratio GTA gearbox... Sorry bud - the shots all came in in the same email - my fault!
Yours does not have the spacer plates at the bottom there like in these pics, but rather you have those two blocks of 6 individual throttle-plates! The one with the black covers, chrome intake runners, trumpets and the test tail-housing and test headers bolted to it IS yours...
Yours with the intake runners off looks just like my 3.7 seen here:
2nd 3.7 Litre 24 Valve Milano Project!

Update: Edit
Ok, so I've edited my last post with the latest engine shots from Dawie's shop. Seems there was some confusion between which "progress shots" were of my engine and John's. Sorry.
Also, I've noticed that several members have rated my thread with 5 stars!! Wow! Thanks to whomever voted! It's taken a lot of ground work to get to this point and to start to see things finally coming together is really exciting!!
