DEMON Thanks All The Creative Minds!!

After a long delay, Frank's timetable and mine have finally lined up so that we can continue work on the DEMON. Over these past several months, I just want to thank all that were/are involved in the creative process. Your time and ideas have helped immensely to push the DEMON that much father.

Respect.

New DEMON Intakes And Grille - The Revenge!!

Frank (along with new addition to Team DEMON, Ryan) and I worked hard on mocking up the DEMON'S new front end today. A lot and I mean a lot of work was done today setting up the new lines. Work started without me, but I arrived in time to lend a hand in cutting and solving fitting issues with the crew.

Carefully cut ribs were fabricated, glued together and shaped to have enough meat on them so we could scale them back as needed. Now, the number one reason I knew the front bumper HAD to be redone, was the fact that the previous intakes and heart, were not following the curvature of the bumper as well as they should. All that will get addressed with this new design and process that Frank and I have recently been discussing.

Here you'll see the first stage of the install after most of the major fab work was done to get our starter shape nailed down. With a lot of measuring, Frank and Ryan began the massaging stage for the new inner grille piece.

Once we knew where we wanted the inner grille to sit, we started to work on fabricating the splitter by using the top curvature of the top of the original bumper. Frank and Ryan made all the necessary measurements and plugged them into the Shop-Bot to fine tune the curvature.

The mock splitter then made about 7-9 trips between the DEMON and Frank's nail gun to secure the best line. After we were happy with a good starting position, the two pieces were fused and Ryan cut into the bumper's exterior points to allow for further fitting of the grille insert and splitter together.

New DEMON Intakes And Grille - The Revenge Cont.

Frank and Ryan continued to dial in the fit on the inner grille and splitter. All the while, keeping everything loose for adjustments. Once again, numerous trips were made to ensure we were staying on track with the drafts that were made. Unfortunately, the original bumper had warped on both ends and will need to be adjusted. Nothing major. Just all part of the fitting process.

Everything will end up flush. All the extra meat you see, will be stripped to create a perfect inline curvature and be seamless.

Here's a sample of a cut that was done as a starting point for the flow of the splitter. It's a 45 degree burn which is too high. The end result will probably be around 60-70 degrees.

Ryan then cut out the last of the bumper and fitted the inner grille with the splitter to check the vitals. Minor adjustments are still needed within the bumper, grille and splitter. But so far, everything is moving along well.

THA DEMON Exposed!!

So I just could not resist doin' up a quick draft of where we're at now with all the minor corrections done - really just gaps taken care of. Aside from that, nothing else was touched!!

Short, Randy n' all my other Bro's, we're on our way. Clear the cobwebs from all that down time. It's time to put s**t down and I'm pushin' even harder than ever, baby!! Other artists can draw flawless, fancy and unrealistic proportional renderings of cars that will never get produced. But we're gettin' all this s**t done with mickey-mouse drafts, true passion and vision!!

Once we get her all lined up, there will be a REALLY nice vertical curvature of the heart and upper grille lines. Just wait!!

Thumbs up

Thumbs up from me too.
It looks like you have the rare combination of the right people using the right technique on the right idea!
The top bar being level as opposed to drooping towards the heart looks so much better, can't remember where you changed but it makes a big difference to my eye.
Keep it up Streetfame, these results should be a moral boost for all involved me thinks.

Well, just goes to show alot can be done with photoshop, but nothing replaces doing the real thing to get the right visual. I wasn't sure about the front end style earlier, but now that I see the real thing I am blown away - It looks great!!
Congratulations on the car, it is going to be great.

Thanks Nick. The top bar is straight. However, it'll appear to drop ever so slightly once carved out to follow the bumper's lateral exterior points. It's all a perspective thing which was hard to convey with the PS drafts. This is something that Frank and I went over and over and over - trying to determine the right length for this effect that would take place. Since most bumpers don't have as much of a curvature as these Spiders do, we had to be very careful. Add into the fact that the DEMON has a noticeable forward rake (stance wise), this would also play into that. But in the end, we both determined the right length of the port and cut-off point.

As much as this thread is detailed, there's so much work that goes on behind the scenes, it's ridiculous.

PS is just a tool to convey ideas. I'm a creative person by nature and with previous years within the shooting game, I've realized one thing - the clearer I can "see" the concept in my head, the more I can focus on it's fruition into reality. I believe PS gets a bad rap because most just perceive it as not real. But I just look at it as a way to communicate concepts FOR reality. I've no interest in drawing something if it cannot be built. To me, that defeats the whole purpose and I don't subscribe to fantasies or wish lists. I get s##t done.

DEMON Foamin' At The Mouth!!

Frank and I have been going over a lot of set-up stuff over the past couple days and only started the next phase today - foamin' It's basically the same process that we used on the hood and with the ability to dial in the exterior and medial curvatures quite easily, it was the obvious choice.

We centered the heart, sealed her in with a bit of glass and foamed up the exterior points and gaps. It'll need to set for a bit due to it's thickness. But once hard enough, Frank or Cam will begin to knock everything back until we have our lines.
