its been said and bears repeating..yes the windshield needs to be laid back about 3 inches..but that...is one hell of feet in itself to pull off and custom glass rebuild the roof custom glass all around actualy..new wing window frames
worth it..yeah probably....would i do it..yeah withought even blinking if i had the cash for the glass...i think the biggest challange is getting a custom windshield or having it shaved depending on how you do it it could just need the corners of the bottom shaved..but the bigger issue could actualy be the wing windows needing to be rebuilt essentialy from scratch..
thats not a path for the weak hearted..its easily reversed yes but its one hell of a deep dive to jump into.....i know your tall like me but id venture to say rake it back 3 and chop it down 2-4 ..but then neither of us would fit in it when the top is up

Oh, the rake. Yeah, that has all been said, but I'm just under 6 feet tall and reducing the windshield height would not be a good move. I eat pretty healthy and airborne bugs are not on my menu!
At the same time, (if the windshield got chopped down) driving with the top up, would be a whole other mess. There's a lot more to consider than just relocating the windshield, a-pillars and vent windows forward. The rear section of the doors and the headlamp valleys would also have to be reinvented and matched up. At the moment, the windshield, doors and headlamps share a common angle. Changing one, means changing them all.
But I'd be game. Just not right now.

DEMON Get's Her Rake-On!
Short and I traded a few emails late last night and he said I should post up a draft of a windshield mod so everyone is clear on what would be involved - a lot.
It would be tedious and quite time consuming. But what hasn't been! I can just hear Tony now, "Mike, you crazy-a** piece of ....!!
Anyway here are the progression drafts:
First one - present state
Second - windshield pulled forward (good-bye cowl )
Third - headlamps and door adjusted
This is the only way it would work. I can't reduce the height of the windshield because I'd be looking over it (not hapenin') and I'd want a functional top. But it wouldn't really matter anyway. The forward rake would take care of the look.
Am I doing all this? Hellllllllll no. Well, not right now at least.

Impractical?? Bro! The entire car is impractical!! That's why I love her!! The windshield does do a lot. But at a cost. Yeah, I know...
Might reconsider the covers. I'd have to fabricate something from aluminum for starters. We'll see.

DEMON Rocker Splitter Concept Draft Cont.
Here's an alternate view to show how the DEMON rocker splitters would look. Perfectly playing off the front splitter's line.

I dunno. I think one of the reasons the style has worn so well is it actually had (IMO) a pretty substantial rake in the windshield to begin with. Especially compared to its contemporaries, and heck even the Duetto before it.

I knew I should have kept my mouth shut, BUT WHEN DID THAT EVER STOP ME???
Anyway, no, not the rake. It's OK. I think it's the chrome frame (polished steel actually, but you know), that looks out of place now. How about a matte finish in a complementary shade, lighter, maybe?
Oh hell, maybe darker even? Oh double hell, how about RED???
What it is that makes it not work is the disharmony between the other major chrome colored element - the wheels. But the wheels, while round, are pretty angular in all their details. That's OK, because they are set off in the wheel well openings as a sort of frame, But once you process that, then your eye travels up to the windshield frame and it clashes. Similar color but completely different detailing, all smoothly rounded. Like the painted surfaces, you dig?
I really, really hate to say this: but maybe the wheels are wrong?? I mean if the wheels were more complementary to the windsheild...
I don't know. That's the best I can do. She looks so damn good, but something is still not quite there...

No, you know what? I think it just needs to be polished to a gleaming shine. I think all I am tripping on is that the steel in the frame is tired looking compared to the rest of her gloriusness. It's the dang photoshopped paint that got me going - must have caught some of the fumes...
Thats all. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Actually, I think that this is something that will have to be decided by Michaelfarina when the real paint is in place. Looking at the photoshopped paint is good for body forms, but doesn't say anyting about what the best finish for such details as the windshield frame.
That's right MICHAELFARINA! I said it, and don't care who knows it. Now what? :

You sure about the red trim on a dark car? Reminds me of the A-Team van. A polished aluminum or stainless overlay would go better with the rest of the brightwork.

The flat finish is bugging me. This thing can be black, maybe even must be, but it needs to be that deep shine that swallows unsuspecting mammoths and the occasional star.
Because, you know, it's actually OUR car... we're just letting streetfame rent it from us.
//my story, sticking to it.

Thanks for your vote, Bro. Yeah, compared to the Duetto's windshield, S4's are raked much more. But the DEMON is an S5!!

Details. Details. Details. I love it!! But wrong rims??? The only thing wrong with these rims is that they've yet to spin faster than I've driven her yet!! Testing at the facility is one thing. Strrrrraight-street pimpin', is another!

Randy did touch on this and yeah, he has a point. The windshield frame might need a visual adjustment. I can either see a tint/texture change or even a whole other fabricated rounder version that's smoother. Maybe something half the diameter of and oval tube.

Thanks Bro!! I know. The paint. I think that one right there is the MOST delayed event during this entire build. But then, without all the cool mods we beat the hell outta and made flawless, the paint (no matter what color it ends up being) wouldn't matter s**t!!

The red highlights I feel adds "punch" to an otherwise normal paint job. Sure I could go with a brushed aluminum look and I'm sure that color can work as well. Check this. Since the front and side splitters will be custom fabricated removable pieces, I can easily have another color and switch up the DEMON game in 5 minutes!! A red set to match the calipers. A CF set to match the rear diffuser and a brushed aluminum set to match the rim's faces. It's all good.

Ok. Since the DEMON is not even my ride anymore, I'll just have to paint it a new color every Winter. Problem solved!
