A night I'll never forget. I had just purchased my spider in Santa Ana from RogerSpeed. I was taking it back to my friend's house in Lancaster. A light rain was falling. As we headed up the canyon towards Cajon Pass, I heard something on the radio about chain control.

Chain control! Yipe! Well, there wasn't any chain control, but there was no shortage of snow and ice. The spider had no problem with that as long as I didn't get too aggressive with the throttle. I didn't have snow tires, so I took it easy, but I could tell that as long as it didn't get too deep, driving the spider on snow would be fun. The balance is good, and the feel of the steering tells you instantly what is going on with the front tires.

I recommend it!

P. S. The heater works well also, although streetfame shouldn't have any concerns there...

Update.

You guys are nuts! Snow? In the DEMON? Are you kidding me? I'd feel like I was that little spaceship in that ol' video game "Asteroids" going down the road will all that power. Tap the gas and it would be, hello on-coming traffic...

At any rate, had a chance to take these pics of the Tilton twin master brake and clutch cylinders. On the other end of that plate resides the new Wilwood pedal box. All hooked-up and ready for the next phase.

Presently the GiroDisc rotors are being machined. Calipers and pads are ready. My order has been delayed due to other work, but all is progressing....

Ditto for the headers being welded. Shop has been really busy as of late. Should be a couple more days or so.

Demon Seats!

Got the call to come check out the seats from my trimmer, Terry. Absolutely perfect!! Just what I had envisioned. Fully clad in a really nice grain, black leather (hand selected by him personally) with black perforated leather for the inserts. Both seat bottom foams were also replaced.

If anyone is considering revamping their seats, let me know. Terry is available to cut and stitch seat covers to suit any taste. FAR, FAR superior to the ones offered on ebay. Those covers never fit right and the back rest fabric cuts are not long enough to get that connected look to the seat bottom. Instead, you're left to wrap the short end around the lower bar. Thus leaving an inch gap that does not work well.

Here is a small list he gave me:

Seat and Insert fabric/color of your choice:
Neo-suade (won't wear at all)
Perforated Leather
Plain Leather

All tied together with Baseball stitching. Also matching door panel sets and shifter/e-brake boots available.

Terry also sourced, painted and replaced all the hardware for my soft top. Now ready for recovering. Presently, the door panels are being cut with both to be completed within a few days.

Stay tuned....

Sweet! Sweet!! Sweet!!!!!

This is only the third time I have ever seen somebody redo their seats, non-stock, and have them come out looking good. And these are more "custom", so they were a bigger challenge. Big kudos to Terry! Tell him to move to Cali!!

Waitin' for the scream,

Waitin' for the scream,
Yeah Randy...I was very careful to keep the seats "on-the-level". As you know, the original suede inserts wear way too easily/fast and are a b**ch to keep clean! I figured with the perforated leather, the seat would breathe a bit better and give it a more stealth look. At the same time, it'll tie into the steering wheel fabrics concept. Wait till you see the door panels!!

Terry was really happy with the results and thanks you for your comments! As far as the DEMON coming to life...trust me, I'm all over that event and I WILL post vids. You guys can count on that!!

Heat Squasher!!

Just arrived.

Since there has been quite a discussion about "heat", I decided to look into alternate companies for suppression. Originally, I was going with Dynamat, until I found out that Dynamat's heat protection tops out at 300 degrees F.

On Chucks thread, GVVGTV6 had mentioned a company called Second Skin that sells a another product by the name of Damplifier Pro - a product far superior to Dynamat. Damplifier Pro is heat resistant to 500 degrees F!! Much better for the DEMON .

It's self adhesive and can be used everywhere you need heat protection and sound insulation. I also spoke with a couple hot rodders prior to buying and they swear by it. One of the guys even stripped the Dynamat he had installed and put in Damplifier Pro because he was being roasted from his exhaust in traffic.

Countdown to Crank!

Engine back in once again with welded up headers. We spent a little extra time tweaking the headers to improve clearances between the block and fenders. Now the headers have even more room - everything fits perfectly.

Also, hooked up the alternator and belt to the water pump and crank. Just need to build another bracket to take up the slack.

Engine is all wired up. Next? Rad, cooling lines, then fire....with no collectors on!!
