That is very very very awesome! I'm a big fan of Japanese cars and actually I always thought about how nice it would be to see a GTV with a high reving new Japanese motor. You should throw in some DEFI gauges for sure. How cool is this though, can you Imagine hearing an s2k but seeing the tailights of a GTV as it flies by. Politically wrong but this is like seeing the Axis powers of WW2 team up. Hehe. Good luck!! Cant wait to hear more updates.

Thanks for the kind words....

Been a while since I have posted, because I have had no progress.
Took a trip to Spain, and had an awesome time!! But tonight I am
actually taking some time to finish up the welding and hopefully
in the next few weeks get her to the dipper!

More slow progress, lots of welding, grinding, and cutting.
Finally ready to be dipped....

...interesting thought here....

I buddy (here on the forums) races hydroplanes. He runs a 2.6/2.7 litre 12 valve V6 Alfa Romeo engine on a methanol/alcohol mix and 14:1 compression making about 330 horses...

Any event, one of the problems that he was faced with was that the engine turns in the wrong direction for the carve direction that most (all) boat propeller manufacturers cuts there blades to...

Randy solved the problem by building a nose-drive for the crank-pulley end of the motor and now he runs it BACKWARDS in the hull!!!

Spin that S2000 around!!!

Cool project by the way.

Thanks for the update Kevin!

Did you do any other welding to the tub or suspension while you were at it?

Simon,

I seam welded all the front suspension points that were tack welded from
the factory. In retrospect, that may not have been a very smart thing to
do, because if I ever have to remove the front clip for collision repair, it
will be very difficult.

Also I am planning on adding a full roll cage to the car, and some cross bracing
between the front suspension. This should pretty much eliminate any body
twisting due to the increase in torque. The Honda engine is not really that
torquey, but the roll cage should help with handling as well.

The car will be dipped in the next few weeks, then I will undercoat with 3M's
Body Shutz, then install the suspension, engine, and take it for a trial run.
Still need to find a secluded street for this, as I will not have any lights, glass
and maybe doors Any suggestions for a location in the South Bay area?

Hahahahah. Bring it to my house. My neighbors are already conditioned to that sort of thing.

The Alfa Tomato is finally at the dippers!! L&M Stripping is in Van Nuys, CA.
Now one with any knowledge of the number one industry in that area would
understand the humor in that name

Here's a few pics of my car arriving in a U-Haul (note it is too long to close
the rear door ), then one of the tanks with acid and neutralizer. The body
that is shown in the tank is a Porsche 911 getting stripped. The smaller boiling
tank is used to strip door, hoods, trunk lids, etc.

The people at L&M are friendly and helpful. I will post some pics when the car returns.

L&M Stripping will do it right. Just remember to get some etching primer on it right away to protect the metal.

How will you prevent rust on the inside, between panels, where you can't reach with a spray gun?

Interesting process. Suprised they're still allowed to operate in CA, since CA made it almost impossible for that surfboard core manufacturer to operate due to emmision laws. Drove them out of business last year, and surfboard prices went through the roof.

I think chroming companies are facing the same close scrutany out in CA.

UngaWunga

They prime the inside of the panels with a wand.

As far as the "clean air", shhhhh don't get them shut down till my car is finished

Keven,
We lost our only (I think) body dipper up here in the Northwest. Could you please forward their # and how much they charge? I'd trailer my sprint down there and wait for it...... Thanks, T.H.

I'd like to know aswell.
What do they charge? How much of a beating does the metal get? How will the car hold up in 15 years? Sorry, but i'm clueless to acid dipping.

p.s. how did you load your car into that u-haul?
