Weight should be between the wheels and as low as possible.

I don't think there is enough room under the rear seat of a 105 series to put it there.

The BF Falcon (I think) and VE comodores are infront of the axle now.

soo wich would be better then..above the rear axle/transaxle/suspension, slightly lower in front of the rear suspension but still above the transaxle, or LOW behind the rear suspension/transaxle...obviously the closer it gets to the rear of the car the more protection it needs

ah!but i think the bigger problem is the increased momentum.behind the rear axel and under the trunk(boot)is putting weight farther away from the center which should increase oversteer.but putting over the axel puts it higher in the mass increasing lean.on the ground i wonder which would have the better cornering???????

Yes I am wrong ... I had a look under the rear of a new Falcon and no fuel tank.

Regarding position of the fuel tank ... I would rather have low weight than high weight any day. So I'm not sold on the above the axle location.

Yeah, I always felt that the high mount tank helped contribute to the rolly/tip toes feeling of my fathers GTV6 vs my 77 GTV (when we had them). The low/rear mounted tank helps with fore/aft weight bias, but not so much with polar moment of inertia. The ideal way, ignoring running exhausts and other stuff, would be to run a pair of tanks under the back seat platform area... of course for a street car its a whole lot more hassle than its worth.

For reference, the Brian Foley GTA that had the 16valve formula car (F2?F3?) engine and Formula 5000 based front suspension, had a tank that was deep (13"), but short fore and aft (7") and quite wide (42") mounted right up against the inner arches.

Radiator came back from the shop. Looks pretty heavy duty,
with double the amount of cooling tubes per/inch plus three
rows of them compared to the standard Alfa's two rows.
Just waiting for the hoses and overflow bottle to arrive.

All fits nice and snug. Here's a couple of pics.

Coolant system is now complete! I used the stock S2000 hoses,
just needed to trim about 1/2 a foot off each. I then ran a hose
to bypass the heater outlets. I also bought an S2000 overflow
bottle, but need to make a mounting bracket , but it does fit very
nicely next to the radiator. I may need to shield it from the headers.
I used silicon lube on the inside of the hoses to facilitate their
removal when the time comes (trip to the body shop).

The upper radiator hose does run very close to the air intake
but I plan on running silicon tubing to a filter mounted behind
the fog light bucket. The silicon hose should bend a little to
accomodate the radiator hose.

A few pics, it's damn tight in there, but I did mount the S2000
front engine bump stop, to prevent to much damage to the rad,
if it hits. The bump stop is mounted to the Alfa's front cross member.

Up next the accelerator cabling, and pedal mods, stay tuned....

Accelerator (sp?) pedal and cable are in. I cut up the Alfa's
pedal linkage, and rewelded the cable clamp real close to the
pedal. I then used the stock Alfa linkage bushings bolted to
my tranny tunnel. I still need to add an e-clip to hold it in place.
But, travel is perfect, with some chance for adjustment at the
throttle body. The cable is stock S2000 with the rubber end
cut off, and then the cable is threaded thru the Alfa's linkage bolt.
Note the cheesy rivet head used to keep the cable from fraying.
I need to get down to the bike shop to get some real cable ends

The clamps are from Honda, and work great to hold it all in place.
Up next the fuel tank and plumbing...

Started on the fuel tank. Cut it to fit in the rear most of the trunk.
I then bent and cut a piece of stainless sheet metal to have welded
on. Got it back form the welding shop (I did not trust my skills enough
for this job). Filled it with water to clean and check for leaks, and
of course found two small ones. I welded these shut. I'm sure if I
did the whole job, I would have had many more leaks. I added a nut
to the front for mounting. The front will bolt directly to the top self
of the Alfa's trunk. Three 10mm bolts should suffice?
A little paint, and some undercoating to clean it all up. Will post more
when I finish mounting it.

The gas tank is in! I welded 12mm nuts to two 2"x2" steel tabs
these were then welded to the top of the shelf in the rear of
the Alfa's trunk. The front nut on the bottom of the front of
the gas tank is held by a 10mm bolt that threads thru a 3"x2"
steel plate welded to the trunks floor. My welds look like crap,
hard to see what I was doing with my head in the trunk! But
are strong.

The filler funnel also needed to be adapted to accomodate a
1.5" diameter fuel fill hose. The funnel is made for a 2" hose.
So I ordered a aluminum radiator outlet, and made a circular
adaptor that was TIG welded together.

Up next, installing the filler hose, and plumbing up the fuel lines.
