rack

i did think about a rack but the biggest problem other than trying to avoid serious bump steer is the later spiders have the steering column and box all in one assembly as opposed to an early gtv or my old berlina. it did cause a little head scratching routing the tubes but it worked out in the end. but a nice power rack and pinion setup was sooooo tempting

I remember reading one v6 gtv conversion where they'd switched to rack and pinion and had some pretty big issues to work out up front. Wheels didn't want to stay aligned without adding another part?

steering

thats probably hans milo in atlanta. he went back to the stock steering setup. my first alfa was an alfetta gtv that had previously been damaged right front. it would corkscrew left to right when you went over speed bumps, dips, anything that would compress the suspension. ended up making a bump steer gauge and shimming the a-arms. it does not take much to throw the geometry way off. another poster here did use a milano rack on a gt jr and it seems to work for him.

mounted the airdam and finally get a look without props. still having some trouble on the driver's side as the bend along the right front bows from the the body a bit. i also do not like the middle four mounting blocks at all and will probably cut them off and re-imagineer something else. a lot more tedious than i thought. i'm also going to flip the splash panels side for side to place the stiffening{?} channel on the forward side as i was getting some tire rub when turned full lock. thats all tonight, been raining and the garage is too hot and steamy now, waiting for a cool front

spent a little time remounting the inner splash panels before mounting the airdam, mostly to eliminate any flexing to cause a misalignment. the horizontal stiffener needed a little trimming, but otherwise fit just fine. i was already getting some tire rub at full lock withe the 225-50's on 8.5 rims. i want more clearance as i am thinking of changing rim size as there is a limited option of tire sizes in 15's nowadays.
