Double contact 3W 1.75" bulb

I didn't do at all well on Google with the above description. The kind of bulb I'm referring to is the type which Alfa uses in - what I'll term - night lights. Meaning so you can see what is in your glovebox, trunk, engine bay, etc. at night.

I've just emailed Centerline about their reproduction license plate light for Round-Tails. It is a terrific reproduction, except for the light itself. The original license plate light uses a bayonet globe type bulb. This uses the long (1.75" end to end) round bulb with contacts on either end - somewhat like a fuse. All I can find, that will fit, are 10W bulbs which will melt the lens in no time flat + the bulb is right up next to the lens. I need a 3W bulb in this length. Does this combination exist?

In any event, what is the proper Google terminology for this type of bulb?

You should be searching for a 'festoon bulb'. If you have issues with excess heat, take a look at some of the very neat mini LED items now available.

Don't quote me on this, but I think the bulb your looking for is a trade size 211 (or is it 212 ).

I just plugged in Sylvania 6411 on Google which did get me both the term - festoon - along with the base which is T3.25 SV8.5-8. I then plugged that in but added 12V 3W and ended up at lightbulbdepot.com

They list it but don't - none of teh places I found do - include the length. This place seems to imply not to call unless I'm a contractor. I'm going to hit the other auto stores today since the client might want to pick up his car this weekend. Apparently the bulb they offer is Zenon. Do either of you know if they run cooler than tungsten? I'd be inclined to think so. I also assume it will be a whiter light which bothers me. The original light being typical yellowish the other (reproduction) a white light. Plus they're of course right next to one another.

Thanks for your input.
