Yes they still have it in Sears!!

It's now made by Craftsman though. It looks like a very useful piece of tool, gotta have it.

I saw similar products in Fry's, about triple the pirce of the Sears one, but they're all electronic and doesn't measure the amp at all.

Thank you RT, thank you everyone. I really appreciate it.

Another couple of things to go with it are a compression tester and a vacuum gauge/fuel pressure tester. I think I saw a used Sears analyzer (like the one in your picture) on ebay that included those things as well, all at a really good price.

The new Sears Craftsman one doesn't come with any of those.

I think this is the one that you've, is that correct?

Let me try to bid on that one. It has EVERYTHING!

If all you are doing is checking the amperage, you can use a multimeter they are fairly in expensive. You can check voltage and amperage with it , that is all you need right now from what i am reading.A digital one would probally work best than a analog one.But the Sears unit would work and offers more of a variety.

Thank you aafoon.

I've a decent digital multimeter already, the problem is, it has a maximum fused amp reading of only 10A. I was going to buy a more high-end digital multimeter, but the highest rating I found is 20A (need the $150 clamp for higher amp)
And those analog one also maxed out at 25A.

Compare to a $15 AMP gauge (pictured above), the $50 Engine Analyzer sounds like a great investment for me to check everything on my GTV later on.

I've never heard of that brand, but I'll bet the guts of it are the same as the Sears units. If you can get it at a good price, go for it. There were so many Sears units on ebay, you ought to be able to pick one up at your price. Just be sure it has all the cables, and preferably the instruction book. If the instruction book it missing, I can make you a copy of mine if you need it.

These anaylzers are really easy to use and, I think, indispensible when working on an old car with conventional ignition.

I finally got the engine analyzer and did the test today.

Doesn't look good, there is only 18 amp coming out of the alternator@ 2000 rpm.

Time for a new alternator?

If so, any idea where I can find a higher output one? Can a fit the 65 amp one from the 81 Spider? Thank you!!
