Oil Pressure Gauge...I hope!!!

Hi,

Actually sender would be better statement..

Went to take the car (69 Spider, 1750), out for a drive yesterday and
noticed after about a mile that the oil pressure gauge is showing 0, actually
below zero.

So I took her home and am now at the point of fiquing it out.

I'm presuming that the oil pressure sender screws into the oil filter
on this car. The wire was attached to it. Also checked the oil level its good.
Oil pressure light did not come on.

So If I turn the key to on, all the gauges come on except the pressure gauge,
it stays below zero. The oil pressure light does come on.

IF I disconect the wire from the sender( on oil filter) and the key is on, and
I measure between it a ground.
I should have 12vdc???? with key off 0 vdc??

If I take the same wire and ground it should i have full scale on the gauge??

Does that tell me that the sender is bad, or is there some other simple test??

Is the oil pressure light hooked up elsewhere and is a seperate circuit??

Thanks in advance

George

Oil pressure sending unit

The part you are addressing is only the low pressure warning light sender. The oil pressure sending unit is above the starter on the block. About 1.5 inches around and as long. They fail normally...... Just replace.

Richard,

Your awsome!!! Went to the other side of the engine by the Starter,
and there it is without a wire hooked to it.
Found the missing wire close by, everything is functioning normally.

Thanks again..
