New Distributors with EI
Fellas (and ladies if there are any)
I'm rebuilding a 2000 motor and the Marelli distributor is half missing and is probably fairly worn so I'm looking at rebuilt distributors with EI already fitted.
Centreline sell a couple of options, has anyone fitted one of these units, what was the experience and how did it go?
They have a high performance ID455 unit with a 4 in 1 coil which sounds pretty sweet, includes rebuilt dis, leads and coil. All of which I wil be replacing anyway. Any experiencewith this unit out there?
Are there any other rebuilt EI units on offer that people have had experience with?

I would go with the ID455 as it comes with the distributor. I went the Pertronix route and I still haven't installed it yet. I even have a MSD box that's on standby. Hopefully I'll get to it next week as I'll have plenty of time to work on the car. Finally!

I was reading your thread prior to creating this one, looks like an interesting challenge. I like the concept of a finished module that has a pre-matched coil, dis and electronics. What your doing could be a huge cost saver though, certainly worth perservering with, unfortunately the benefit will go to other less adventurous people who are watching your progress with a keen eye. Keep up the good work, hope you get her humming soon.
Cheers

Thanks. I've been so busy, but like I said, next week I'll have plenty of time for tinkering...hopefully. I'll keep you guys posted.

I bought the new electronic distributor that Classic Alfa in the UK have just started selling. Its made by a company that has preset 16 advance curves into the dizzy so you can fit it to any model alfa.
You do feel the difference, there seems to be more of a stronger pull across all of the rev range

I have been considering the same distributor, is it worth the cost ? which curves are build in and how do you change between them. I cuold not see if it has a build in vakuumadvancement, is it so ? Does it run with a standard coil ?

Morton, on the bottom of the unit their is a 16 position switch each setting relates to each alfa model, if you have a worn distibutor it's worth changing, the shaft on mine old unit when removed showed a lot or wear and play in the shaft, hence the timing was out slightly, speak with Richard @classicalfa in the Uk he should be able to help with more of your questions.
best regards
Andy

I'll give it a go, that lloks like good value. Thanks for the tip. It will be a while before I fit it, I have to rebuild the gearbox first.
Cheers

123 igntion distributor
I have just bought one of the 123 distributors from classic alfa.I havn't fitted it yet but there doesn't seem to be a curve for my dist.I have a 006 type and thought this was the most common type with the mildest advance curve but the instructions say a 2000 spider or "bertone" has a 045 type >Does anyone have information on the 045 I have a graph from a previus post on the 006.Also there are only 10 postions that emulate varoius jf4 dist fitted to Alfas are there 6 random curves programmed into the unit as well.
