Advice about removing starter

Further to my request regarding starter problems, I think I need to remove the starter from my 1979 Spider. It has the SPICA system. I would appreciate any advice with regard to this job. My car's starter has three bolts at the rear of the starter and then at the front of the starter there are two small studs from the starter holding the starter to a bracket which is attached to another bracket which also supports the SPICA and is attached to an engine mount. It would seem almost impossible - I haven't tried it yet - to remove the bolt which holds the starter bracket to the engine mount. I wonder if there is something I am not seeing.
Thanks
Pat Mills

I don't know about the stuff on the front since my "newest" Alfa is a '74. For the 3 bolts on the rear I found that a 13mm stubby ratcheting box end wrench makes the job quite a bit easier. Also remember to keep the top most bolt in the top most whole when you put it back together again. Best of luck!

just removed the starter out of 81 spider same set up as yours. the only way to get he starter out is to remove the 3 bolts and then you ahve to take the 2 10mm nute off the bracket in the back. Then remove the bolt that goes threw the bracket 16 or 17 mm this will lossen the bracket up and the starter will come out it comes out towards the front of the car but youhave to turn it a bit to get the solinob turned faceing down. You are also going to want to snap off one of the throtle rods as it will block or path to pull it out
