Question Help, Coil Question

Here is the deal:
Car started fine this morning and I drove the 10 miles to work after warming up for about 5 min.

As I pulled into parking, the engine stumbled and diied.

Restarted immidiately and turned car off.

Thought about it for a couple hrs. and went out to see if she would start...no go. Acted like no spark.

Checked battery, pulled and tested at Autozone- bad.

Replaced with new and tried again, pulled a plug and grounded - no spark when cranking.

Plenty of fuel coming thru.

Checked coil, Bosch, and have 7-9volts across -&+ sides with switch on, not cranking.

What am I missing????

Help!!!!!

1. Check distributor wire from coil has a good connection to the spade terminal under the distributor base plate.
2. Check points are gapped and not burned.

Well, well as it turns out I am getting plenty of spark...no fuel!

How far should the fuel be shooting out of the hose from the engine bay filter, FI side, ie what is the flow rate .

I am getting a pulsating trickle and inch or so long about a quart a min.

Should be getting at least 10 psi and 2 quarts out the front fuel filter on just battery power. With alternator power, you should be getting 14-18 psi.

Are the filter new?

Are the electrical connections to the fuel supply pump clean and tight?

Is the fuel low pressure light on? Does it come on initally when you turn the key on, then go off when pressure is built up a few seconds later?

Does the fuel pump have an uneven whine, or is it steady?

When you remove the fuel filler cap, do you hear a hiss, like the fuel vent system is stopped-up?

Bill, you still have a broken compensator spring right? If so, you really shouldn't be driving the car until that's replaced. The rubber band and paperclip fix is only an emergency get-home measure.
