When your hands get zapped by just placing them near the wires while the car is running; you know it's time for new ones!
I tend to agree with GG; but after struggling to get the clam shell cover off/on a few times; losing the clip, etc. I just decided to leave the thing off too. Never had any problems in the rain; only when washing down the engine bay (making sure the engine is cool; dry out the plug wells on the head after). When the plug wires went bad; the car was consistently hard starting and would also run poorly in rainy weather. Just changing wires at that point fixed the problem.
