Headlight Gremlin?

I'm having a hard time figuring this one out on my 79 Spider - I only have one headlight on low-beam (right) and on high-beam, only the left on illuminates. I've put new sealed beams in and checked the fuses. From other threads here it doesn't look like there is a headlight relay. So is the problem in the stalk switches? If so, which is more likely to be the problem - the high/low switch or the on/off?

Since one lowbeam works as does one highbeam, that means that the headlight switch is OK and is powering fuses 7, 8, 9, and 10 (one fuse for each hi and lobeam). My guess is that even though the fuses are good, the contacts are dirty. Try squeezing the contacts together while rotating the fuse at the same time.

Thanks - that got the right side working both hi and lo. Left side still doesn't have lo. I guess I'll try cleaning the contacts at the bulb. I sprayed CRC on them but it could be time for the Dremel brushing if I can get them out of the plastic housing..

If you've removed and replaced the connector on the headlight a couple of times, you've probably cleaned the contacts enough to make a good enough connection. Take the connector off the back of the headlight, take a test light (avail at Walmart) and check the wire is hot. If it isn't, then go back and check the bottom connection of the applicable fuse. If still no power, then check the top connection (electrical path prior to the fuse). Since your getting power to the other headlight, you SHOULD be getting power on the top connection.

Thanks, guys. Giving the contacts a good cleaning did the trick. Thanks for helping me eliminate the switch papajam.
