Tidying up the wiring on my '67 GTV- what is original?

Hi everyone!
I'm in the process of fettling a few things on my step-front coupe that are required to pass a roadworthy inspection. This included fixing a non-working high beam on one side. Thinking it was just a blown fuse or globe, I started tinkering and discovered (horror of horrors......) that the original high beam wire had been cut and replaced by some speaker wire running to the opposite side parking light! Needless to say, it wasn't strong enough to stand up to it and had let the smoke out at some stage.

The whole loom is now out of the engine bay from the fusebox forward and I've discovered a few other lovelies such as solid core 240v house wiring etc etc. Papajam was more than helpful by supplying one of his wiring diagrams (hence my gold subscription!) but it's for a Sprint GT and might have a few differences to the GTV version. While my loom has been hacked, I can't find any trace of an engine bay light or trigger switch in the wiring, nor a place to mount it. Should it be present? I ratted one from a 1750 berlina (mounted under the bonnet) along with half the loom (thanks Graham!) so I can always pop that in if it's correct.

I have a feeling that the indicator wires are a different colour to those shown in the diagram too but will have to check on that when I'm looking at the loom. Can anyone confirm this?

Last thing- were the looms originally wrapped in heat shrink, black amalgamating tape or black electrical tape? I can redo it in any of these, but would prefer it to look as correct as possible

Sorry, I probably should have posted this in the Wiring Diagrams thread but didn't find it until just now. Just to clarify, the car is a 105.37.

Here's what I found:
Right hand indicator- light blue
LH indicator- blue with black tracer
RH park light- yellow with black tracer
LH park light- yellow
LH low beam- green with black tracer
RH low beam- green
LH high beam- grey with black tracer
RH high beam- grey

Anyone know if this is original or not? I've since redone the loom and chopped out all the offending speaker wire, but discovered that my headlight/indicator stalk is arcing and on it's last legs
There's always something!

Sam:

I know they weren't wrapped with shrink tubing or electrical tape. I have no idea what "amalgamating tape" is, but it's the only surviving choice!

OK, I did a little web research, and learned what amalgamating tape is. That might work, but it sounds a little "high tech" for what you need.

What you want is something that I would describe as "wiring harness wrap"; it is like electrical tape that has no stick-um. This stuff is sold by Eastwood, and I even found it at my local automotive supply store (Kraegen) - it is specificly for wrapping harnesses. The stuff is quite stretchy, and wraps around the wires without sticking to them, or to itself. Because it has no adhesive, I always secure the ends with tiewraps. Get black tiewraps, and they will be less conspicuous.

Do NOT use conventional electrical tape - the adhesive gets really gummy after exposure to heat and oil, and your nice new harness will just become a big mess.

Thanks for the tip Jay
The amalgamating tape is pretty similar to what you mentioned- the stuff I found is sold by Nitto as Butyl tape. It's like really thick (black) cling wrap that sticks to itself but not to the loom, so you don't need to cable tie it and it doesn't go gummy. Not cheap, but I only used about 1/3 of the roll to do the headlight harness! It's easy to source here too which helps!
