Turn Signal Flasher

Hi,

I have three flasher relay from the PO, which one belongs on my car and what is the location in the car, only one has an attachment so that i screw it to the car.

one of the cans says the following
Nile
variable load
Flasher
VF312-12V
32cp MAX something
90C/M
Don't Drop
Japan

All have markings on them
x or + = 12V
L = Load
P = to blinker light on dash.

When testing from power asupply they work fine although the PSU overload light lights up with every click of the flasher. I connected a light from P to ground, did not light up. So tried from the car battery only to cause sparks. why isn't P powering the light for the dash?
Tried the other two, same thing.

I have never replaced or tested a flasher before, can some tell me if all three are faulty, before i go and buy a new one.

Thanks

I have looked at every thread regarding the flasher relay, still not any smarter. I will buy one tomorrow for LED lighting as all my bulbs are now LED's, except the driving lights.
