Smile Brake light switch part #

Hi

Does anyone have a part # for a generic Brake light switch. I got pulled over last night for having no brake lights. After I turned off the parking lights we saw they were working but very dull. He let me off with a warning and about 20 questions about the car. I think he was angling for a test drive. I checked and I'm only getting 8-9 volts at the back, but full voltage going into the brake switch. I know IAP carries them, but its only a $6 part.

Trot off to Advance Auto or the like with your old switch and get one that looks/fits like it as brake switches are a really, really generic thing and finding a suitable replacement should be easy as pie. (you'll prolly end up with something Govornment Motors)

brake light switch part #

I just got back from a couple of auto parts stores with no success. My Alfa is an '87 Milano Gold, European delivery, and it's starting to get really complicated trying to find a new brake light switch for it. All the parts I've found made specifically for the car have a 3 prong end, and my car has a 4 prong end. So if any Alfisti out ther are able to steer me to the correct part(new or good used) I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. So Rala, best of rewards for your continuing efforts to find the switch for your Spyder!

Odd (or mabe not) my 85 spider only has 2 terminals for the switch with 2 wires on the harness.

I wonder why you've got double that? (they wouldn't do something so goofy as have a seperate service for the left and right would they?)

That being said, I imagine you could still go with a generic 2 or 3 terminal switch and just tie together the appropriate odd-wire(s)-out to exisiting terminals. After all, it's still just a single action switch regardless of the terminal count.

If it were truly that great a concern, you could modify from a generic 2 wire pedal switch to a dual 87 terminal relay. That way the switch would act as trigger, but the lights would be serviced by direct battery voltage.

'Course if you're looking for concours or just wanna have the exact same thing as what you've got for a replacement the above is a moot point.
