Directionals

I have directionals that the indicator lite stays on with the switch in the middle position. Finally went out & nothing worked! I replaced flasher and bingo the lite is back on. The directionals now work also, just that pesky indicator lite on in the neutral position. Any one had this before?

Saw this only twice; the first time, it was the wrong flasher. The second was incorrect wiring at the flasher. I guess the question is, has it always done that or is it a recent devolopment?
