Wink 88 Spyder Quadrifoglio. No floor lights.

The interior floor lights used to come on, then time out and turn off. No lights now. All the fuses are good. Any ideas?

Hi, welcome to the BB. Come on up to the Spider section. Post some pictures there and you'll get a big welcome!

Did you move the light's covers? You can rock the cover to one of three positions - auto (on/off with doors open/closed), always on (so you can drain the battery overnight) and always off (so you can wonder why they don't work anymore).

If that ain't it try removing the contact switches in the door post. They act as the ground connection for the electrical circuit. If/when they get dirty/corroded they'll fail to make a connection to ground. Use come contact cleaner (spray can) &/or a small wire brush to clean them.

If that ain't the problem then the light timer may be faulty. That item quit in our Spider so I just bypassed it with a jumper wire. Now the interior light goes out when the door is closed instead of staying on for a few moments.

Yup, that was my problem.

After a thorough check. I found the timer relay at the fuse panel was bad. The only thing is that its not available. Any answers?

Its a large plug in relay with an internal circuit board. I will pull it out tomorrow and try to get some numbers.

Likely SIPEA 0679 would be the p# in question.

In our '84 Spider I removed the (dead) light timer relay and connected a jumper wire so that the interior light comes on when the door is open and off when closed. It just doesn't stay on for those few seconds after closing the door without the timer relay.

Remembering of course that the early S3 and late S3 have that timer in a different location with possibly different orientation. (or was that S3 to S4 was different?) *sigh*

Remember? Nope.

But here's a picture (this is an early S3 - 'bullet' fuses). The jumper is a short piece of wire with male spade terminals on each end.
