Lights-No lights

Keep blowing the 8amp fuse to the running lights.

Had the front end replaced after the accident and I have a feeling somethng is not right up there. Never had a problem before the accident and now its blown 4 times.
The lights will be on for awhile sometimes and be ok but sometimes the fuse will blow when I turn them on.

Any ideas where to start and how to chase this down?
I cant drive it just in the daylight

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I think I'd start looking for + wires up in and around the repaired section that may have been damaged (insulation knocked off for example) in the accident that can now short out.

Also look for mis-routed wires (did a shop do the fix for you? do they know exactly which way the wires should route? do they have a 18 year old understudy who does things his own way regardless?) or wires that got crushed/pinched and/or cut between edges of things that were being bolted back together.

Abbreviated version: sounds like you got a wicked short somewhere

I would first check which fuse is blowing, so you can narrow it down. Each head light should have a separate fuse for high beam and low beam, so 4 fuses in total....then there is one for both parking lights (at least with a 67, YMMV, do you have a wiring diagram??) Then you can focus on the wire leading from that fuse

Thanks guys, working from the fuse back to the source of the short, thats the way to go.
(Peter it is the running light fuse. The turnsignals and headlights are fine).

I hardly ever have to deal with electrical and I'm just not real comfortable or competent.
Will let you know what I find.
Thanks again...

To wrap this up, I figured out the fuse would blow only with the hood open.
I was able to find the cause ( the body shop misswiring a hot wire to the hood light switch) used the wiring diagram supplied years ago by Papajam, fix it in 10 minutes, and get the show back on the road.

I wish all problems were that easy to fix.

Thanks for the suggestions and support.

Onward through the fog.....!!!
