question about diagram
on this diagram there's a red/black running from the fuel cutoff solenoid to the ignition advance relay. Seems to me that wire should connect to the cold start solenoid, not the fuel cutoff. Am I crazy? Thanks for the clarification.

Not at all. But your understanding of electrical systems is showing! The wire in question should indeed go to the cold start solenoid. And upon closer inspection of the marginal copy of an original 78 diagram I have, I'm not 100% sure if this wire is red/black (RN) or white/black (BN). Could you verify the wire color on your car?

the wire is white/black -- definitely. I just checked. I sent you an email so you can send me the corrected diagram...

By the way, I really should say what a great job you did on the diagram. Having it in color and labeled is incredibly helpful.
